Congratulations on your baby girl, Mandy! I found this thread this morning, because I too have had 2 negative pregnancy tests. (1 at home, and 1 at the doctor's office yesterday). I had to go to the doctor because I have pink eye. I told him that my period was late. He was afraid to prescribe the normal conjunctivitis medication, because it's not recommended for use during pregnancy. The lab test came back negative, and I a__sumed that was correct. I am using the normal prescription to clear up my pink eye, but now I am wondering if maybe I'm pregnant after all! I am 41 years old, and have a thyroid condition, for which I take synthroid every morning. I am also about 80 pounds overweight. I have 3 sons, and those were all normal pregnancies with positive HPT results. They are now 20, 18, and 11 years old. My husband has 3 children from his first marriage also (20, 18, 14). We were hoping that maybe we could have one child together, but we're not really sure if we can handle another one! lol

Me again. I forgot to say that I also have other pregnancy symptoms. I feel exactly the way I did when I was pregnant at an earlier age. I have nauseau, fatigue, and "bubbling" sensations in my belly. I also have a thick, clear discharge. Hopefully, I'll find out what's going on soon. It would be nice to have a baby. I chose for my other children to live with their father (He was remarried to a nice woman, and I was struggling trying to raise them on my own. I felt that their lives would be better in a home with two parents.), so I have been a lonely mother all my life. It would be nice to have a child that I can keep!

Hi all, I have been reading this page over the last couple of weeks and like all of you, have really been touched by mandy's story. I only started searching the web for advice when I myself have had x2 negative tests. What alerted me first to the fact that I might be pregnant was I days after having unprotected intercourse (in the middle of my cycle) I came out in acne all over my chin and back. This lasted about a week, then that stopped and I began to get some serious bloating. I am now past what I believe to be 3 weeks, but the tests think otherwise. I have no other real signs to report, just terrible bloating, and wind like never before, I just can't suck my stomach in at all. Week 1 I told my partner I was sure I was pregnant just purely from the gut feeling I had that I was, I can't explain it. But x2 tests on and I am starting to become very very worried that I am seriously unwell and that the pregnancy thing is in my head. But then on the other side of the coin I think, but I was never planning for this so why am I so sure. Not really sure what I am supposed to do next, do I go to the doctor? Or do more tests> Is it still to early. Any advise would be great, thanks ladies....

Congratulations Mandy! On the baby girl. I am so happy for you. I had no idea how big of a problem false negatives are. I feel for the rest of you. I hope that you all are able to find your answers quickly. Well, here's my story. I am 25 years old. It has been 71/2 weeks since my last cycle. I have been off the pill for about 31/2 months. My last cycle was 6 weeks. So you can imagine my surprise week six weeks rolled around and there was no period. I took a hpt on Tuesday and of course it was negative. I am now waiting to get into see my doc on Nov 4th. I have been having increible bad lower back aches. I have a six month old son. The first test I took with him was positive. So u can imagine my frusation. I really just want a positive or my period back. Any suggestions of advice would be appreciated. This is to Becky: My advice would be go to your doctor and get some blood tests done. Then go from there. To Sandy: I hope your pink eye clears up and that you find out if you are pregnant or not soon.

It's such a relief to find people with the same problem I'm having. I have missed two periods. It has been 11 weeks since I began my last period and that one was a week late. I have taken 9 hpt which is getting very expensive by now. I even went to Planned Parenthood with my hubbie to see if their urine a___lysis would turn up anything. What a waste of 22 bucks! I am feeling SO bloated, I am nauseous off and on all day, I have heartburn, and I get tired quite easily. I am really starting to wonder what's going on with my body. What upsets me is I can't say I am pregnant but I can't say I'm not. If I am pregnant then I am missing out on a very special time in my life! I am hoping to go to a Dr. soon and ask for a blood test. In these instances do blood tests work when all the hpts and ua are negative? I would love any tips y'all might have. One thing with the fatigue is that we just moved into a third floor apartment with no elevators so that's getting tougher every time I climb up it! Oh well I can either stick it out or become a recluse and hole up in my apartment! :)

My blood test was negative, but still no period a week later despite taking progesterone for a week (which was suppose to cause me to get my period). Sigh. If I don't get my period this weekend, I'm going back to the doctor. Somethings going on!

well, i am at the end of what i think may be 3 weeks pregnant and have just done my 3rd test which was negative again. I have a new symptom which has joined the rest in the last couple of days - my b___bs feel really hard and full. Plus they hurt to touch, one side in particular. But the biggest thing to have happened is today when I went to the toilet I had the palest pink colour on the paper when i wiped. Not really sure what that could be, i am still concerned that i am sick rather than pregnant because i find it hard to believe that three tests can be wrong. I suppose the next step is the doctors, although I am really scared that they will tell me something is really wrong. fingers crossed everything turns out ok...

I would go see a doctor. Sometimes your hcg levels aren't high enough for the pregnancy tests. You sound to me like you are.

Congrats Mandy!!! Joanie keep us posted. I still haven't figured out what the problem is with me yet!!!

Hi everybody, congratulations Mandy!, on your precious new daughter. I have noticed your story is being suggested on other sites as good reading for women who are unsure of what is going on with their bodies, after many negative tests. Thanks for keeping us updated for so long. I was wondering if anybody could answer a question for me. Not even my local hospital midwives can answer this one. Can an early second trimester pregnancy hide in a tipped or retroverted uterus? I have had an ultrasound with nothing showing up, except that I have a retroverted uterus. But I have an alarmingly quickly growing stomach, am having to eat less and less everyday because of its size, lighter periods over the last four months, but the main thing is, I feel lots of movement in lower abdomen. It is like pokes and proddings and comes any time of the day and can be anywhere across my lower abdomen. I could consider the other symptoms as just hormones, but cannot get any answers as to what could possibly cause the movement. Hoping somebody has some suggestions. Thanks. Good luck to everybody. Kind regards.

Still no period. I took another HPT this morning, still negative. I made another appointment with my doctor. maybe this time she'll actually examine me!

HI! I am just updating from my last post. It has now been 8 weeks since my last period. I had some spoting over the weekend

Wow! Is really all that I can say! I knew for a long time that it was possible to be pregnant and not test positive on any general pregnancy test, but I didn't know it was as common as it apparently is, as I have noticed on many of these site. The only reason I knew it was possible, because my mom herself went through that when she was pregnant with me, but refused to accept the doctors diagnosis as negative. She knew and treated herself as though she was pregnant, and tada in your face doctor here I am. But I am going thru the same thing now, is it possible for this to be caused by something genetic? who knows.....but I'm 8 weeks late, I've been very nauseated, my b___sts are very tender, I have been so fatigued (usually sleep max. 5-6hrs, but been sleeping min. 8.5 hrs) lately, I've missed my last period and well...I don't know what to think of it. I went to the dr two weeks ago, and she said no I was definately not pregnant. What kind of dr says such a thing, I spoke with a friend of mine in another town who happens to be a dr and he told me that they are not supposed to say definately not, as clinical tests are definately not 100% accurate, there are many different people in this world and nothing works the same for every one of us. Ive been sleeping a lot, but it hasn't been a comfortable sleep. *bleh* I'm so sick and it's so weird and it's tough trying to keep it from everyone right now, because I don't want to get anyone's hopes up until I know myself. My guy is also in another town and it freaks me out to tell him, we've talked about this and we both agreed that we wanted to have a baby at some point, I just don't think we were expecting it to happen so soon. I'm happy, things are good, I should go back to the dr's right!? That's the only problem with living in a small town....everyone finds out when something is out of the norm. Well....thanks....talk to you all soon....just needed to vent. :)

Anyone know if your white blood cell count goes up with pregnancy? I went to the doctor because i have been nauseous, tired for the past 3 weeks. HPTs were negative. AF was 1 week late and lasted only 2 days. Doctor only did a urine pregnancy test. Had blood work done that's when she said my White Blood Count was high. I just feel pregnant. My b___sts are tender, growing, and recently i have noticed that my viens there are very noticable...Any suggestions?
