Hi, does anyone know if there any way to be pregnant and the hpt's not pick it up? The day of my last period was October 4th. I believe i ovulated and then had very light spotting about 11 days after that, but my hpt's keep coming out negative. Iv picked up a lil chubbiness in my belly area, nothing huge but iv defly jumped up a size. I dont know if my hormones are somehow screwed up causing me to gain weight and miss my periods or if for some reason i am pregnant and its not showing up in my pee tests. I went to the doctor about two weeks ago. she just told me that the pee test was negative (Duh?) and that if i didnt get it by the end of december to take another hpt. So i dont know...just seeing what other people think/know.

my last period was sept 15. i had a pee test with my doctor last dec 9 and its still negative. ill be checking again tomorrow. if its still negative, ill be having ultra sound sometime soon. hope we get what we want! good luck!

well, ive read most of the posts here and some say they had negative pee tests though they see their baby in the ultrasound. pee tests only tell you a qualitative result which is not really accurate in telling you are not pregnant. pee test vary in their sensitivity. pick up the lowest sensitivity like 20 mu/l. so if you have small amount of hcg in your body and the pregnancy test cannot detect it, better have a blood test. blood tests tell you how much hcg is in your blood so you will really know if you are not pregnant or not.. but for me.. ultrasound is best.

But like in our cases, we'v skipped over 2 periods so in order to have a healthy pregnancy, wouldnt the hcg levels have to be above like say 20? I dont know my friend told me that a girl we grew up with didnt know she was pregnant until she was 2 1/2 months along because the tests kept coming out negative as well. I just dont know how common this is? Or if some peoples urine may not let the tests pick up the hcg levels. im just confused. this is driving me and my boyfriend nuts.thanks for the posts though =-)
