I though I was pregnant b/c ept kept giving me false +, not other brand was +. A bloodtest confirmed, and still no sign of af. The test was definitely read in less than 5 minutes. I will never use it again!

Diff. brands have diff. sensitivity levels. And this can actually differ between two brands in the same box. As long as you got that one positive, chances are you may be pregnant. In rare situations a false positive can occur, usually b/c of miscarriage. There have been instances of positives on hpt and then negatives at the docs (their urines test is less sensitive than a lot of hpt). My advice is wait a bit and re-test, when hormone levels are higher. Good luck.

Do you think that pregnancy tests should be trusted? In another one of these rooms I read about girls who could not pa__s a pregnancy test but were already in maternity clothes. I think I am five weeks prego. I just feel like I did when I was pregnant with my son. I have taken both a blood and a urine test. Both tests came back negative. My period is allllllways 28 days apart and 6-7 days long. This month it was 4 days late and only 3 days long. It was not heavy at all! I don't know. what do you guys think? Could I be pregnant???

okay guys to shed some light. Your hCG level when your pregnant doubles every three days for around the first trimester. If it is above 5 is almost a positive pregnancy. when you use the take home test they range in sensitivity. Some test show positive if hCG is above 20 (safe test and aim midstream). Other tests like ept don't show a positive unless the count is above 50 or 100. By the time you hit five weeks your hCG level should be around 50-100 if not higher. I have heard that the hormone starts to excreet in the blood stream as soon as the egg has planted in the uterin wall. But I think thats wrong. I think that it starts to produce when the egg has been fertilized. Almost positive infact. Any way a woman will have a hCG count as high as 300,000 by the time their first trimester is over. There are some women who don't double their hCG levels as quickly as others and thats why they don't pa__s the test as soon as others. I have also heard the the fertilized ovum or egg has been known to float in uterin for days before it plants in the wall causeing the hCG levels to be low. I would ask your doctor when the hCG hormone starts to be produced. NOTE: all of this information i have either read in other rooms or just found on the web so i would talk to your doc if you think any of it pertains to you. All of this is information that I found very useful

Erin..I'm in the same boat. I've just tested positive(barely) after many negatives. My cycle is like clock work, 28 days without fail and lasts for about 5 to 6 days. I just got over what looked like a very light and shorter period and tested positive(barely) six days after I "started". Anyways, I know it was implantation bleeding, I have two children and had implantation bleeding with both of them. I think it is possible that you might be pg. Retest and good luck.

mari- I think that you could be right because when i was pregnant with my son I did have a period for the first month and spoted through out my first trimester. I didn't know about implantation bleeding. That is a good point. Thank you for that info.
