I am the same way. I know it might sound cold but I just don't have it in me either. Is there a possibility of just asking for an amnio without having to do any other screening test (not counting the u/s of course)

I purposely avoided the bloodwork because of how common the results come back 'high risk' when everything is fine. If you think about it, you have a 20% chance of m/c with each preg, more if you are older. Compared to that, a less than 1% risk of Downs, or even a 3% risk is pretty LOW. If you look at it the other way around, it means there is 99-97% chance that everything is fine! One big problem with Down's babies is that they often have heart and other abnormalities, so if your 20-week u/s looked normal, then it's likely everything is fine. tamara, it sounds like your little guy is going to be fine!

I sure hope so-- like you said, my main concern was heart problems and other abnormalities but so far everything looks good. I will continue to keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers!
