NT Results Can Anyone Share Outcomes

Hi... I had my NT today. Haven't gotten the bloodwork back yet so I don't have the final numbers, but the u/s had a measurement of 2.9mm at 13w1d. I'm trying not to worry (I know that the NT is not definitive, and that 2.9 is on the high end of "normal") but I'm wondering if anyone had similar measurements and a baby that turned out ok? Thanks...

Val, for a women over 35 anything under 3.5 is considered normal..and the fact that you had the test at 13w1d also elevates that measurement. I know it is considred the high end of normal...but just wait until the bloodwork comes back as well and the can give you a ratio. Remember this is a soft marker..so there are additional options your doctor may want to discuss with you if you are worried. Do remember this is still a screen negative result. But if you are very concerend CVS can be done until 13w6days and amnio at 18 weeks. P.S. I use to go to another website that discussed NT scores of women throughout their pregnancies..many of the women had high NT's above 4.0 and were freaked out..the large majority went on tho have normal pregnancies. I wish you all the best!!

Hi Val...hope you are feeling better and not too worried. Kristens advice sounds just like all the other posts I have read about on this board, very rea__suring and positive. When do you get the blood results back and then can take a look at the ratios together? Good luck

Hi, Val. I was 32 years old and 13w5d pregnant when my baby's NT measured 2.9mm. I could have had the CVS and amnio but we opted not to have it since we were determined to have our baby regardless of test results. The risk of our baby having Down Syndrome increased from something like 1:400 to 1:146. I had the triple screen at 16w and level 2 u/s at 20w. The result of both screenings were great but it didn't do much to ease my fears. There really wasn't much for me to do other than pray and prepare for the possibility of having a baby with DS. Thankfully, I gave birth to a healthy and "normal" baby last August. Pray, have faith in God and trust that all will be well. I will be praying for both you and your baby. Btw, here's something I wish I had known earlier.... You may want to have another u/s and ask your doctor to look for a nasal bone before you reach 14w. Its presence is supposed to be a good indicator that your baby doesn't have DS. Keep us posted.

Heart- thanks for the encouragement and congrats on having a healthy baby. If I was a praying person, I probably would be doing that as well! We did ask about the nasal bone, but the genetic counselor said they don't look for that. I may ask my OB about it though. LOVEMY3 - We may not find out the results until middle of next week. They said it could take 5 business days. I figured, if it came back early, we might know by today, but it's more likely that we won't know until next Wednesday or so.
