Hello all, I am 21 weeks pregnant with my fourth child and I have a yeast infection. My doctor prescribed Gynazole 1 but upon picking it up from the pharmacy and reading the insert that states:
There are however no adequate and well controled studies in pregnant woman. Gynazole 1 should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Upon reading this I will not use this medication. I know I have used another cream in previous pregnancies that did not carry a warning like this. To all of you who have had yeast infections in your pregnancy what type of meds were you given and do you know which is safest?

Carly67 - when I get yeast infections I get the mother of all yeast infections. Sometimes, if I do not tackle them with Diflucan from the start, the infection even spread to my behind. I recently found out that I am pregnant again after experiencing three miscarriages in the past. I am only a month pregnant and my pregnancy came along with a vicious yeast infection that spread all the way to my behind. Like you, I was concerned about taking any medications. I did not. I began to use externally Monistat Itch Relief Cream. The active ingredient is hydrocortisone 1%.. Use it only externally. I also began taking one garlic oil 1500 softgel. It is 3mg of pure garlic oil that you take orally once a day. I also took one capsule a day orally of acidophilus. Believe or not it worked beautifully. After two or three days of following this regimen I feel 90% better. The yeast infection is almost gone. Google garlic to treat yeast infection and acidophilus to treat yeast infection ad you will find more information. These products are perfectly safe for the baby because they are natural. Good luck!!!
