Ottig- I am SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!!! I actually got on here just now to see if you posted. I made a mental note of today's date and couldn't wait to hear how things went. What a relief for you! Please let us know when you have the baby. Unfortuanately I still have the dreaded "spot" and I don't think I'll be having anymore ultrasounds. I'm only 26 wks and due September 24th. My belly is getting big and she's popping all around in there! Enjoy your pregnancy now!! Do you have a name picked out?

Hi KrisD and Jodi34, Thanks for your posts overnight and also for thinking of me. I actually asked the scanner whether the white spot was still there and he said NO it wasn't. All measurements of the baby seem normal and have been given an approximate weight of 2.4kg/5.3lbs - which I think is quite a decent size for 33 weeks - I have another 7 weeks or so to go - wow the time is flying by. I finish up work in about 2 - 3 weeks (depending on how I am feeling). Answer to your question Jodi - we have 2 girl names and 2 boy names picked - still not 100% but the names are: Georgina and Martina for a girl and Marcus and Christian for a boy. yesterday i was really tempted to find out, but I thought I have come this far - I can wait another 7 weeks or so. Please keep posting your updates of your stories and I will keep you updated as I go along too. Take care all of you and thanks again for all your support through this stressful time. Hi there! I also want to share my story to bring hope to all of you. I had the echogenic spot finding in my 18 weeks U/S. After detailed U/S at 22 weeks, the spot being still there even without other markers I felt I could not conyinue this pregnancy with that level of anxiety and opted for the amnio. It was a good desicion for us, since I was immensely relieved today that the preliminary results came back OK. My Best wishes to all of you still hanging in there and thanks so much for sharing your stories This forum was great reasurance in days of despair. PS: Don't forget to make you updates after the babies are born and God bless all babies!!

Hi all - I posted two weeks ago - I am pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl. The boy had the foci on his heart and a dilated kidney. My early amnio (FISH test) came back good, and we just got the final results this afternoon - all normal. And that's with two markers and a high risk pregnancy. So hang in there everyone!!! I love reading all these posts!

Hi everyone! I posted back in March about the Echogenic focus on my baby girl's heart. I was beside myself with worry my whole pregnancy, constantly questioning the 5 different doctors who told me everything would be fine. I gavebirth to her on Thursday and not only was she born 100% PERFECT and BEAUTIFUL but EVERYBODY, including her pediatrician said the spot was completely irrelevant and she doesnt even know why doctors mention it to put us through needless worry. I am sad I didnt enjoy my pregnancy, so PLEASE try to enjoy yours, all of your babies will be perfect, just have faith!! Good luck to you all!

Hi Kmmec2218 - Firstly - CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of your baby girl last week. What is her name? I am sooooooo glad to here the positive story - thanks for keeping us all posted. I had by 33 week ultrasound last week and they told me that the white spot had disappeared. Although still a little nervous and it has made me feel a little more relaxed about the whole thing now. I am now nearly 34 weeks (this Thursday). I have just found out that my friend had her baby this morning (5 weeks early). I hope that I will not be that early as I am still working and will be for another 2 weeks. - Well once again congratulations and thanks for keeping us posted. Enjoy motherhood and these early months as they are precious moments - treasure them :) LOL

Hi all. I have been following this post since February when my doctor found two of these spots on my baby's heart. I worried and worried, but reading the updates has really helped me remain calm. My son was born today and is completely perfect! He was also a chunky monkey weighing in at 9ilbs. 5 ounces.

Kmmec and Spicoli- CONGRATULATIONS on your healthy babies! I love hearing these positive success stories. I'm 27 weeks now and my baby girl still has the echo spot. I won't be having anymore ultrasounds so I won't know if it goes away until she's born. :( I'm trying to be positive...but I'm worried because the last two weeks I haven't felt much movement at all. Is this normal? She was moving a lot a few weeks ago and now it's just a twitch here and there....even after I eat or drink something. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Ottig, thank you for your congrats, I'm glad to hear you are somewhat relieved that the spot dissappeared, try to enjoy theses last couple weeks. It brought tears to my eyes thinking about other people having to go through this. Only a couple weeks till you get to meet your prescious little angel! I will check back to see how everything turned out. To all of you still awaiting your babies births, I will keep you in my heart and prayers, I know what you are going through. Just remember, there hasnt been one bad outcome on this entire board in 2 years:) Thats got to tell you something!

Hi, my name is Robyn. I came across this website after doing a search on 'echogenic focus' today. Due to my being 38, my husband and I decided it made sense to follow the path of Perinatal testing after discussions with our OB. I did the neucaltranslucency test some weeks back - the results of the ultra sound were perfect but the blood work was not as good as they hoped so my risk of having a baby with Downs Syndrome increased from 1/308 to 1/239 - less than 1/2% chance. I decided to do all sorts of other screengings just to rule out any other illnesses and all were negative including my AFP which they did for Spina Bifida. Yesterday we went back to the clinic for my level 2 ultrasound and they discovered the 'bright spot' on my baby's heart - right now I am a little over 17 weeks. Up until now I had not decided on the Amnio but within minutes of being told this I was sitting there in tears and panic talking to the Nurses, Doctor, Genetic Counsellor discussing what we should do. All other measurements of the baby were normal from the ultra sound. So we decided to do the Amnio. In as much as I heard 'we see this in Babies born without DS, we see this in women with your risk factor and the babies do not have DS, there is a good possibility everything is fine', I am struggling. We opted to get the preliminary results, so I am sitting here looking at the pictures they gave us of our baby feeling completely helpless. I have read many of your stories and they are giving me some level of comfort. Thanks for letting me share my story.....

Hang in there nattigirl!! I'm pregnant with twins and the boy has two markers, one being the bright spot. Our amnio results came back perfect!!! The more I read, the more I see how common it is!! Waiting is hard, I know....! I could barely look at the u/s pics in the meantime!

Hi everyone. I was just going to give an update on me. I saw the spot on the heart at my 16 week visit with my high risk specialist, I see him and my regular OBGYN. Today I saw my regular dr and I am 22 weeks. They said they did not see the spot, that everything looked perfect. She said that that spot is so common now that it is not considered anything anymore. So I am feeling a little better, I was hoping they would not be able to see anything bad.

Hello All. Just had my 20 week u/s and we are having a girl. She also has spot on heart. My doctor gave us the 1% chance of having DS and is sending us to level 2 u/s. I was very scared and considering amino because I hadn't done any other testing and will be a month away from 35 when I deliever. I have decided against amino because of the postings on this sight. I am more at peace and hope to relax. Thanks to all of you!

NovemberBabyGirl, I just wanted to let you know that I asked 2 perinatologists about the1% chance thing because I had heard that also. I was confused because that would make the chances 1 in 100. They botht old me that its not true and that information is based on VERY old research and a lot of doctors give patients wrong information. The chances are actually MUCH less than that. My daughter also had thisspot and is 2 weeks old and completely healthy.

Just another update here... I went in for my 24 week u/s on the twins. The boy is the one with the spot on his heart and a dilated kidney. Well, they tech couldn't find the spot - then the doctor came in and it took her about 5 minutes of searching the heart to find it. So it is much smaller now. She gave me a neat a___lagy. She said it's most likely calcium.... And as he gets bigger and uses his heart more it diminishes... Like putting sugar in coffee... It dissolves as you shake things up. Anyway, here's to happy endings....
