Lower Abdomin Pain

Hi all, I have been reading the forum and haven't come across this yet so I thought I might ask the "experts" out there. I am 40 and about 7 weeks pregnant. I am not in good physical health and with my age, I am very concerned about this pregnancy- this will be my first child. I have had pain, sometimes very strong, almost like cramps. I expect discomfort, but not actual pain. My "nurse" appointment is almost 2 weeks away and that will be with a nurse only, the doctor not for another week or two. The feeling is similar to PMS, which I had severe pains during, and there is no blood. Before I knew I was pregnant, I did take tylenol about 2x a day during about the 3-4 week. any ideas? I really don't want to lose this child but as time goes on and I still feel this , I am very worried. Thank you in advance.

I am 38 years old and about 7 weeks also. I have had lots of pains here and there, and have discovered that most of them relate to my "bowels". I have had some cramping off and on, but not anything that never goes away. Why are they waiting so long for you to meet with the nurse? I had my "nurse" appointment almost two weeks ago, and they put me on rx prenatal vitamins. They will ask about your symptoms and if you have had any bleeding, etc. Is there any way to bump up your appt. so you don't make yourself worry so much? Also, don't worry about anything that you may have taken in the early weeks. When I was pregnant with my son, I had one of those nights of too much to drink followed by a trip down the side of a hill on a sled, bouncing up and down about as hard as you can. He came out fine! Try to relax until you see the dr. As long as there is no blood, you can a__sume that your uterus is making room. Best wishes to you and stay positive!!

I am 37 and almost 9 weeks with my first. I asked my Dr about mild cramping and he said that my uterus is stretching and that I will have some cramping...Hope that gives you a little relief...

thanks hjkim and FrancesM, I am trying to get my appointment moved up and if not, well I will just have to say prayers and do my best not to keep having these panic attacks. Still no blood so I guess all is good and it is off and on with the pain so at least it is not constant. I am following the new diet guidelines to avoid gas and such and I started prenatal vitamins (the receptionist said to get them, and if the doctor wants a different one they will tell me). Thank you for the encouragement and support, I am truly appreciative.

I am 40 and have been experiencing the same exact pain, like menstrual cramps. They come and go and it has me really worried. There has not been any discharge or anything like that, just cramps. I am new to this site and hope to talk again. Thanks

I am 35 (I'll be 36 when I deliver) and am 26 weeks along with my first. In the beginning up to about 14-15 weeks I had the same type of cramps. It felt completely like menstrual cramps and it felt like I would start my period at any time. I asked my OB about it and she said that was pretty normal as long as there is no blood. She also said tylenol was safe to take as well. The cramps have pretty much gone away now. Hopefully they'll go away for you soon!

Hi, and thanks for easing my mind. I drink plenty of water, but I still feel like I am not getting enough throughout the day. I drink about 4 to 5 32oz all day, so you can imagine how much I am running to the restroom. Sunday and Monday were scary because of those cramps, but now they have subsided.

Im 37 pregnant with my first and also had the cramps although they feel different than normal. My consultants been great seeing me every 48hrs in the first weeks until he thinks he will see something on a scan.He also says normal. keep positive, i keep being told that pregancies later are more normal than not these days.I think if you worried atall about anything bully them till they see you peace of mind is also good for the baby. good luck
