We have a health nurse visit the house after the baby is born which is a free service! Is that something you are offered?

Oh yes - re side st_tches (BM5) - I get them too sometimes. I find the only way to get rid of them is to lie quietly until the baby has shifted position. Otherwise, eating something and having a hot drink has sometimes helped. Hope that helps you too. XOXOXOX

Good Morning Ladies Just put my son to sleep using my broken glider. (Still works just rocks all over instead of front to back) Well I rocked backwards and got stuck; it went so far back that I could not rock forward. Thank goodness my son was home for spring break or I may still be in that position. I was kicking my legs around trying to get the rocker to move forward. Had to call my oldest son from the bas____nt to help me out. Of course my son had a great laugh before he pushed me forward! I'm sure I won't live this one down for a while...lol TTC#335 I'm sure we will check in and see how you are doing. It's been so great chatting with everyone; I hope this thread continues on for a long time! They'll just be chats about babies added to the discussion. Hopeful and Excited. Isn't great when the weather is warm and you can get out and enjoy a walk? You sound like you’re getting all set to welcome your baby into the world. Is your DH getting nervous about the labour? Do you have anyone else coming in the delivery room? My son was with my for my last delivery, he left for the actual birth and came back in once his brother was born. My DH cut the cord which was a special moment; hopefully he will cut this boy too! Have you had to change your diet with the sugar in your urine? This is a strange question but I'm not having any luck finding answers online. Does any one know if after having a Vasectomy whether the ejaculation still contains the prostaglandins to soften a cervix? My DH had a vasectomy after we learn my liver was struggling and the doctor recommend no more children.

Hello everyone! LB-cracking up over your glider story! Atleast when the baby comes you won't be so big in front and will be able to get out of it-lol. So...you are thinking about the whole s_x thing to get things going, huh? After looking it up, it says that it's the s____n that contains the prostaglandins, since there is no s____n in ejaculate after a vasectomy I don't think it would still contain the prostaglandins. However, another couple of stimulate ideas are: if you orgasm, it will produce oxytocin which can stimulate contractions. Or (sorry if TMI for everyone), you can try stimulating your nipples. I have heard on several occasions of docs that have recommended this. I haven't been able to substantiate it with any backup, so at this point it's heresay, but worth a try, eh? Good luck! And have fun-lol.

TTC-I agree with LB, I have a feeling we'll all be here long after our babes arrive! Hopeful-have fun with birthing cla__ses, I guess I'm thinking I should start setting some up for later. Our weather was nice here for a bit, but now has taken a turn in the cold direction again. It's supposed to warm up soon and I think that sunshine sure does wonders for the moods!

hi all... another crazy Monday -Wednesday so I'm just now catching up. Wow, can't believe some of us are getting so close! LB - you must be very excited! Your rocker story made me laugh! TRACY, glad you're doing better - you're overdue for it! I'm having the same rocker/glider dilemma. I found one I liked at BRU, but I've ready some reviews that say that they sometimes break easily. Seems like that's possible since there are a lot more parts than an old-fashioned rocker and I'm sure they are not made very well. We do have a wood rocker that I've been thinking about getting cushions for (for the bottom, back and arms) but I'm just not sure. I might register for the glider or talk with my parents about it - they asked last week what we need for the baby. Or I might just wait until after the shower and see what we really still need. HOPEFUL, thanks for the link - I'll check it out! My friend walked me through the diapering options a few weeks back so I'm feeling pretty good about my choices. You're having sugar in the urine? And LB is too? My doctor found some in mine yesterday, but didn't recommend anything. She also found some blood and white or red blood cells, leading her to think I have a UTI. I don't really feel like I have one though. And the entire doctor's office left for Mexico for a week today, so she gave me an antibiotic (Macrobid) prescription and said I should take it even though she won't have confirmation about the UTI until after the Mexico trip. Ugggh! I hate taking antibiotics. And I read that you shouldn't take this one in the last month of pregnancy. Technically, I'm at week 30, but the other thing I found out yesterday is that I'm now measuring 5-6 weeks ahead! Dr thinks it might be the fibroid, but again I won't learn anything else until they do an u/s on April 2nd. What if I take the antibiotic and he comes within the month? But apparently if I don't take it (and if it is a UTI), I'm at risk for pre-term labor. ARGH! Any advice/thoughts? I'm downing the cranberry juice and am waiting to hear back from my naturopath to see if she has any advice.

Val, I think I found a rocker I like. It's at KMart dot com of all places. I saw it on ebay, so I googled it and realized that KMart sells it. It's the Lexington Rocker in pink. I was going to get a regular rocker from furniture in the raw, but the one I like is about $175, and that's without staining it or cushions, so really the cost of the chair would be about the same as the Lexington. Pottery Barn Kids has the only glider on the planet to match my furniture, but even after my discount, I would end up paying almost $450 for it. Not cheap. I think the KMart chair is looking mighty fine!!!!!

Tracy - that Lexington rocker looks nice... have you tried it out? I've been looking at ones with higher backs. But the price is definitely good. BabyM5 and LB - my hypnobirth teacher (a labor and delivery nurse) mentioned the nipple stimulation thing several times... apparently it can bring on strong contractions! LM3, how is it going with the weight loss? I'm up by 20 lbs now, so I'm looking forward to hearing some encouraging weight loss stories! :-)

Val, I can't try the chair out because it's online only. The one I really want would cost me about $550 dollars. It's a similar rocker but from PBKids called the Lullaby Rocker. That one I have tried and LOVE. I just can't fathom spending over 500 big ones on a chair. What do you think? How much are you guys spending? or have spent in the past?

Morning all!! Well it sounds like a hive of activity with regards to rockers and gliders (I have to admit that I had to google both to see what you mean - very luxurious!!) Our baby's room is pretty small so no room for things like that but I do have a rocking chair in the sitting room so I may be able to use that sometimes for nursing. Mind you, I've had a Lovedblessing's problem since before I was pregnant - I can never get out of those sort of chairs so I may be stuck in it for life!!! Well, yesterday's course was a real eye-opener for me. It's not that they TOLD me anything new (I've been doing so much reading that I think I've got the basics?!!?!) but then there was the PRACTICAL side of the course. I WAS USELESS!! We were given lifesize dolls to dress, change and bathe and I was all fingers and thumbs. Thankfully my husband was much better at it than me (must be something to do with being left-handed! At least that's my excuse!!! LOL!) so our team won't be a complete dead loss!! I'm glad we went - I now realise what everyone means when they say they have no time to themselves in the first year or so..........I can see myself feeding and changing the baby and just about getting over the shock before it all starts again!!!!!!! YIKES! What Joy! Anyway, went to the doctor again today re. the whole sugar thing. They have confirmed (again!) that it can't be GD so that's a relief but I'd really like to know what is causing the sugar in the urine. I'm going to try drinking a lot more water before appointments to see if that helps the kidneys to "dilute" any nasties. The only other advice I've been given is to cut out sweet things but, as they're not really in my diet anyway, there's not much I can do except perhaps to try to eat less carbohydrate (also a type of sugar) and more fibre fruit etc. (As a vegetarian I do this anyway so I'm really struggling for solutions - water water water I think!!!) ******** Lovedblessings - I was also told (on one of the recent courses) that orgasm and nipple stimulation are good ways to induce labour. The other thing you could try is Raspberry leaf tea (a reasonably cheap option), some acupuncture (which will probably be at a price) or acupressure (which you can do yourself). The yoga-based labour preparation DVD I've got shows you how to find the correct areas in between your thumb and forefinger, on your ankle or at the back of the neck but if you google the words "acupressure" "induce" and "labor" you'll find a few articles that may explain it sufficiently for you to try. Good luck with it whatever. Val - 5-6weeks ahead!!!!!!!!!!! Goodness me!!!! What would your due date be then? Sorry to hear about the need for antibiotics. What a horrid situation to be in when the doctor leaves you with doubt in your mind. I hate that - you'd think they'd be more sympathetic to our needs for secure information. Anyway, I'm sure they know what they're doing so I'd go with their advice and try not to worry about it. ******** Must go - having starved myself since last night so that I could do the sugar test this morning, I now feel like a second breakfast!!!!!!!!!!!! TTYL Big Hugs XOXOXOX

Oh yes - forgot to ask. Has anyone got any information on the best place to position the crib. I'm aware it shouldn't be near curtains or blinds and that gla__s pictures shouldn't be above it - but what of the rest? Given that we're now advised not to use bumper pads (as they can cause overheating from what I gather) I was wondering if placing the cot in the corner (so that one of the long sides is up against the wall) is also a problem. Like I said, our baby's room is not very big and the only alternative I have is to pull it away from the wall by about 3 or 4 inches. Do you think that's what I should do? Any advice on this would be great. Thanks!! Love to you all XOXOXOX

Hopeful, you know, all these crib guidelines are just a little crazy I think, because my mom was telling me that in Finland they used to give women a large box filled with supplies for their newborn, and that the box was the bed!!! I also specifically remember my little sister's crib being cornered in the bed room and the child is 26 years old now. What I am going to do is put the crib against the blankest wall, and hang her name up above her crib, but high enough so that she won't be able to pull it down when she is standing. I wanted to get one of those mosquito net/canopy type things to go over her crib, but I could just see her being able to stand and pulling on it, then pulling it out of the ceiling!

Oh, and I've decided to order the chair from Kmart. If I hate it, then I can return it to the store. I think it will serve it's purpose though.

hi all... thanks for the advice. I probably will take the antibiotic, but I'm headed to the hospital shortly and I think I'll be able to get the test results from medical records, so I'll at least have confirmation about the infection. Tracy, the chair and ottoman I registered for is about $350 total. I don't think we'd buy it on our own -between my maternity leave without pay, and dh having a cut in hours and salary this year, we're trying to be extra frugal. I don't really expect anyone to buy it off the registry for us, but we do have some really generous friends. Also, my parents might buy it for us. But if it comes down to having the money for the rocker or a good b___stpump, I'd probably can just outfit our current rocker with cushions and make do with that. We haven't spent much on furniture in the past - we tend to get most things second-hand. HOPEFUL, I haven't read much on crib placement since we're doing the co-sleeper attached to the bed, so I'm no help there! But I think I had read that the bumper issue was more related to smothering than overheating. gotta run - have to get those test results and get to my follow-up physical therapy appt!
