Louisa- My easy delivery just went out the window. I went to my appointment on Tuesday and they did the non- stress test and an ultrasound. They told me that he is breech and over 9 pounds with 2 weeks to go. They scheduled me for a c-section on the 21st. I am so worried about he recovery.

Tammy, I'll cross my fingers that he turns around in the next two weeks. Like yourself the thought of a c-section is very scary. Reading through some of the threads there seems to be several ladies that didn't have problems after the procedure. If you have to have a c-section I hope reading your thread about your successful recovery will be the next I read. On the up side you must be very excited at the thought of holding that little guy very soon. Take care!

I have been doing some reading about ultrasound accuracy. In my case, at the 32 week ultrasound he was only measuirng in the 55%. He was 4 pounds, 13 ounces. At my 36 week check, the doctor said he was measuring larger than he should and scheduled me for a ultrasound at 37 weeks. I cannot beleive he gained 4 pounds in 4 weeks. I have heard of so many women being told they were having huge babies only to have a normal sized baby. They are doing the c-section at 39 weeks so I don't chance going into labor. As the doctor elequently put it, "we don't want you coming in with two legs hanging from your v____a". Gracefully put. I told my husband that I am afraid to go far from home. I called the office today and asked abou the chance to either turn him or he turn himself. They said that there is no chance. Thanks for your support Louisa. When is your due date?

Wow, that’s amazing.. four pounds in four weeks! If he keeps gaining at this rate can you imagine how big he will be at forty weeks? My first son was five pounds fifteen ounces at birth (five weeks early), sounds like yours will be twice the size. Yes, I have heard that ladies that are supposed have really large babies end up having normal size also. Your doctor is right, walking into the hospital with legs dangling is probably not the best route. Since there is no chance of him turning before your due date then the doctor has yours and the babies best interest for the safest birth possible. Tammy I really do understand your fears, I wish I had some words of wisdom to comfort you. The internet has some great information on c-sections, you could also start a thread to ask for ladies experiences. My partner complains when I do too much research, he doesn’t like to see me worked up over something that may or may not happen. Let me know how you are doing. My son is due February 20th.

Louisa- The more I read, the more I really don't think I want to know. It's like having a baby for the first time. You don't really know what to expect and I fear the unknown. My biggest problem is both of my other kids' birthdays are Oct 29th and Oct 31st. We promised our daughter a big 21st party and I feel like I should go ahead with it. I brought my son home on her Sweet 16th so she had to wait until the summer for an abbreviated party.

Tammy, I can't believe all your kids were and will be born in October. How's that for timing! Do you have lots of support so you can go ahead with the party. Would you be able to recruit some of her friends with the planning and organizing. I just wish had some advice on how your going to feel after the c-section. What day are you planning the party. Will you have enough time to rest? Don’t be afraid to ask for lots of help.

I am not the type to baby myself and after to talking to some women who have had c-sections I realize, everyone is different. I seem to boil down to how well they surgery goes and how well your incision heals. People in general like to tell horror stories about births. As far as Stefanie's party goes, I may be able to get some family help, but all of her friends are away at college. We are having it Thanksgiving weekend, Nov 26-27th because her friends will be home for the holiday. I should be fine by then, just the last minute stuff. Alex is having a Batman party on Nov 13th and I am Since they tell me Luca is going to be close to 10 pounds I am returning all of the 0-3 months clothing I received so my week will be busy. These conversations have been strictly about me......Hiw are you feeling? Do you know what you are having? What part of the world are you from? Is you son excited at having a sibling? Youa re more than halfway there. With the holidays approaching, it will go quickly. Thanks for all of you support!

Tammy, You sound like a strong person. There are so many horror stories out there, I guess the best you can do is wait to see how you body will handle it. From how you have described yourself you won’t be down for long. Hopefully your family will be able to help out with Stefanie’s B-Day party. Plus you’ll have an adorable new little baby so I’m sure you’ll have lots of willing bodies to watch over him so you can focus on your daughters and son’s parties. Everything will turn out fine! 10 Pounds WOW, my sister’s son was just over ten pounds and rolled over at birth while he was being weighed. The nurse was shocked, she had walked away from the scale. Smart plan returning you 0-3 months, you may want to hang on to one or two just in their numbers are off. My first son was 5 pounds when he was born.. 0-3 was way to big, he was swimming in his sleeper. This pregnancy has been not too bad so far. I was spotting through most of my first trimester, once that settle down the testing began amnio etc. which is a three week wait in Canada....(Ontario- Niagara Region) feels like forever waiting for the results. But well worth it, now I can relax and enjoy feeling this little boy growing inside of me. He sure is active. I’m glad the holidays are just around the corner, hopefully that will make the days go faster. Christmas is my favorite time of year... I go crazy with decorating the house. Now if we could only agree on a name for this little boy. How did you weekend go.. Did you get much rest?

I responded some time ago - like 10 days or so. I am just posting to let you know I am still waiting to have my little one and have not forgotten about posting here my story (hopefully a natural birth). It seems I will never go into labor, as I have no symptoms of getting any closer to it. Oh, well.

Louisa- My weekend was great. How was yours? My son plays soccer and hockey so we are pretty busy. I am trying to go to all of his activities. Once the baby comes, the evening and outdoor ones are out. Isn't it a relief once you have the amnio results? I really didn't worry at all with this pregnancy. I agree, the holidays will make time speed by. I also love the Christmas holidays and like you, we go all out with the decorating inside and out. I may have to scale back a bit this year.
The baby name thing......touchy subject. We could not agree to the point of the conversations getting a little mean. Finally one day I was watching ER and I said how about Luca. He said, yep, like it. That was it. Luca Gian. My family hates it but, too bad, really. Our real problem is godparents. We are really stuck trying to decide. I went for my last visit today. Was happy that I lost 1 pound. I guess this c-section was meant to be. In addition to his being breech and over 9 1/2 pounds, I tested positive for beta strep. The major concern was that I have very short labors and deliveries. I couldn't get an epidural with my son----he came too fast. I feel better about it. Take care

Hey Tammy, Glad to hear you had a nice weekend. With an older child around you are always on the go. Summer is crazy for us with soccer and all the other outdoor activities. I love watching my son play soccer, they came in first in the finals this year. Both teams were very strong, it was an intense game to watch. By the way this little guy is kicking me I’m sure we have another soccer player on our hands. It would be great to find a name so we can call him by name when we rub my stomach. Spencer is the only name we agree on at the moment. There is also Kolton, which I like spelt with a K my partner likes it with a C. He also likes Gavin which I don’t like at all! Are you kids excited about the new addition to your family? I’m trying to keep my son very involved. He came to the twenty week ultrasound with us, he kept the pictures from the scan. When you say short labour and delivery how long have yours been? My first son was nine hours after being induced. I heard the second one is usually faster. Does sound like the c-section was meant to be.. at least you and the baby are going to be safer this way.. I’ll be sending good thoughts your way. Take care!

Louisa-
We are back home safe and sound. I love the name Spencer. Sounds like a winner. Well about labor.....my first was 1 hour and 45 minutes. With my son I had very minor twinges and then I got "the pain". I arrived at the hospital at 4:20 pm and he was born at 4:43. The c-section was not a bad experience. I just would rather have gone v____ally. Much more recovery time this way. I still cannot sleep in bed because the staples hurt. I get them out Friday so I am hoping to feel better this weekend. I have been home 1 day and am already going mad. I am making my husband take me to Babies R Us this evening just to get out of the house. Cannot drive for 2-4 weeks (they say). Anyway, about the baby......he is just abou the most precious thing I have ever laid eyes on. Just beautiful, strawberry blonde hair and tons of it. Big blue eyes and the most mellow personality I have ever seen. I am absolutely in love with him. He was a big hit in the nursery too. He was still breech but weighed in at 8 pounds, 10 ounces, 20 1/2 inches so the ultrasound was off some. We named him Luca John. So far he eats and sleeps...kind of boring around here right now. My son is beginning to adjust some. His birthday is on Saturday so we will do something special for him although we are not having his party until Nov 13th. I hope you are feelin well still. Not that much longer to go. Alex is just coming in from soccer practice. Talk to you soon.

CONGRATULATIONS TAMMY!!! Luca sounds very handsome and adorable. I'm sure it feels great to be home safe, there's nothing like your own bed. What a great feeling to have your little one in your arms. Don’t you think it’s amazing how you can love something so much it feels like your hearts going to explode. Nice to hear your son is adjusting, it's just so hard to share Mom. You make sure you get lots of rest and take good care of yourself. Let yourself be pampered. Staples... ouch, still very much hoping for a v____al birth, not being able to drive for that long would drive me crazy too! Let me know how you make out with your shopping. Hopefully you can give me some advice on what not to forget to purchase.. 13 years since I did any baby shopping. We've had some excitement here. Early Monday morning I was admitted to hospital with severe abdominal pain and vomiting . While I was throwing up water was running down my leg... talk about terrified. Luckily the water turned out to be just to be one of those many embarra__sing experiences a pregnant women get to experience. (Sorry if that’s too much info) . Apparently my gallbladder was infected and full of stones which in turn cause my liver to become infected. My white count was 20,000, a pregnant women should have a white count of 11,000. Great news that the medication worked fortunately otherwise surgery would of been the only option which could bring on premature labor. There would only be a 35% chance of survival at this point. Hearing all the new born babies on the ward was so hard until the surgeon gave me the great news that the medication was working. I thought of you while I was the hospital, just got out of hospital this morning and needed to check this site to hear the great news of your new arrival. Congratulations again to you and your family... be sure to keep me posted on how your doing. Take care for now!

My last entry was on Oct 18 - I am still here and preggers! I am not 5 days overdue and have a scheduled induction for 11/7. I am still hoping for a natural birth even if it starts with a Pitocin drip! I will post again after baby Jaime Ray arrives. :)
