HELL YEAH!! As long as you're having a normal pregnancy without complications, there is no reason that you can't. My hubby and I do!

Sometimes but not commonly, a Dr. will tell a woman to abstain from s_x during 1st trimester. Unless your Dr tells you otherwise it should be ok to have s_x during 1st trimester. However, this does not mean that you will not spot but don't panic if you do see spotting. Pregnancy increases blood volume which makes you more sensitive and more likely to spot a little after s_x or after a pelvic exam, even the your gums in your mouth may bleed more than usual during cleaning. The spotting after s_x, if you have any at all, will usually be from the friction during intercourse and not from any harm to the fetus or sac. Go enjoy yourself!

That's not a dumb question. It can cause bleeding during the first trimester for a few reasons: more sensitive area, pushing on the cervix thereby releasing some blood. Whatever the case, you probably should abstain until you're just a little further along.
