1st off I'll be 42 soon. I desperately want not just one baby, but two. Yes, twins. And i think I'm doing everything wrong. I started taking soy isoflavins a few months ago, but just read on this thread that that could be bad for me because I regularly ovulate. I also started taking store bought prenatal vitemans in addition to my regular multi vitamin. I only see the man I'm dating roughly once or twice a month as I am completing my MSW & the distance is not an easy obstacle for us to over come. So, I'm trying to see him during my fertile times. Until recently I was on the pill, but stopped to try to prepare my body for pregnancy. I have waited so long to have another kid (I do have two) because I divorced, returned to school, and was waiting on the right time. Well, I'm finally graduating so that's a positive, my job just down sized, that's a negative, but I'm hopeful for better employment or another job, but hey, I'm 41 almost 42 and I'm ready to have my baby / babies already. I haven't talked to my dr. except to ask her if I could have another child if I went off the pill & to tell her I hope to have another child within the next year. So ladies please give me all the advice you can or direct me where I should be. Thanks a million!

I'm not sure if you're asking for how to conceive at this age, or if you should conceive in your situation. Since you made a list of pros and cons, I'll a__sume the latter. As you're listing the positives and negatives, I didn't notice the potential father's wishes listed in either category. I guess that would be my advice as to where to start: determine with the future father what you want together. Since you're graduating with your MSW, I imagine you know the extensive benefits to a family of the parents being in a stable marriage, so my advice would be to proceed in that direction before conceiving. I know this kind of advice can seem out of date to a lot of people, but since you're in social work, I know you have studied the reality behind it. Whatever you decide, good luck to you and your family.
