Boppy Pillow - waste of time, standard bed pillow worked great for nursing. Bouncey Seat - a must. Diapers, diapers, diapers - They don't illicit the 'ooh' and 'aah' when opened at the baby shower, but they sure are handy. Onesies - You can't have enough of them. Medela Pump in Style - the BEST b___st pump. GOOD LUCK! :)

Wondering about the same thing - it's hard to know what to buy/request with all the different stuff out there.

I liked the Bobby for when she got a little bigger and used it for lounging/sitting, etc., but never could figure out how to b___stfeed with the thing. I would recommend 2-3 packs of flat-fold cloth diapers. Again, not a fun gift, but we used them as burp clothes (the kind you don't mind getting dirty), cleaned up various baby substances with them, used them as changing cloths, and cleaned loads of things with them (on us, baby and floor). We now use them as rags for painting and cleaning and I'm hoping to get some more this time around, so I don't have to buy them (they're ~$10/pack). Also, daiper genie was the first thing I asked for this time around (you don't want to save a diaper genie from baby to baby, trust me...).

We had a county garage sale this weekend and I saw like 100 diaper genies and even though I really want on, I thought buying a used one was a bad idea. I'm glad you said that now! I'll put it on my shower list! My mom said you can never have enough receiving blankets/burp rags either.

I heard that the Ocean World swing is awesome, and the Ocean World Bouncer. The swing is a little more money, but I was told that babies go crazy over it, it really occupies them. Are you registering anywhere, Babies R Us is really good! Good Luck!

Yep the Ocean world swing is amazing!! I sold it after my daughter cause I thought we were done, but I will be buying another...it saved us so many evenings from a fussy baby:)
Also bouncer seat is great, as well as receiving blankets and cute frames for all the pictures you take of the new one.

*we used recieving blankets for everything, towels, burp rags, changing pads, oh yeah, and blankets. lol. *i absolutly love the thremoscan ear thermometer. *if you plan to nurse, lansinoh b___stpads are the best pads in the whole wide world. *larger size baby clothes are wonderful to get at a shower. everyone likes to buy newborn stuff and baby out grows it in just a few weeks. ask for 3-6mo and 6-9mo sizes. *i HATED the diaper genie. if you get one as a gift give it a try, but i would not spend my money on it. *medical supplys are very nice to have around. baby tylenol, a cold remedy, some mylicon drops for gas. you'll be happy you have them if you need them instead of having to go to the store in the middle of the night with a sick baby. *how about maid service? where do we register for that? :o)

The papisan bouncy seat and swing (Babies R Us) are very nice. They have more of a recline position. Very easy to feed baby in the bouncer. Swing is very roomy for extended use. I had a colicky/reflux baby the last time and they were a godsend.

I had a colicky/reflux baby the last time and they were a godsend. Matching items may look cute but they are not always the most efficient. I had an Eddie Bauer stroller and they just recalled it. I had to sub with something more expensive. Make sure you get a diaper bag that's not too c_mbersome. It's your best friend for about 2 years. Onsies, bibs, fleece and receiving blankets, monitor, wash cloths, platyex bottles (for those of you who are not nursing),burp cloths, wedge, crib dvd player, sleepers, baby bath products etc. Have I reached the $3000 mark yet. The list goes on and on. There are many stores to make your purchases at but Babies R US has the best return policy.
