Shopping, LOL, no I have absolutely NO reason at all to be worried about either and I think that is why my dr. said it was not necessary to test for it (grrr), I'm just a paranoid freak ;) Each stage of this pregnancy I have found something else to worry about once I pa__s each milestone and it is rather draining to say the least. After so many losses, I don't think I can just enjoy this like I should...(sigh). I never had PTL, and I know the nurse can't STOP it, but she was saying it in joking way, as in, she'll keep an eye on me and not let anything slide, you know? I called her several times about the BH in tears that it might mean I was going to lose the baby and she basically "talked me down" so to say. She's a sweet lady and I know she can't stop something were it to happen, but basically if you have no history of preterm labor (uh, that sucks because then what do you have to do, lose a baby before they monitor you more closely???) they won't watch for it it seems. As for BV, i read about it a lot when I was doing miscarriage research during my losses. I told the dr. that i heard people don't have to have symptoms, but she looked at me with that "do you think you know more than me?" look, so I backed down, lol. Anyways, just wondered what your experience was...

Shopping, that is great info. I had a tough time emotionally, but my little guy had a really tough time physically. It was touch and go his first week, and it took him a long time to get well. But he's great now and has been since he came off supplemental oxygen at 1 yo. You were even earlier, 16 weeks early, amazing. Would you like to share your story? If you'd rather not, I totally understand. I'm the only one in my "circle" who's had a premature baby and it was really defining for me. I'd love to talk with you about it if you want.

Stefkay, "What do you have to do, lose a baby before they monitor you more closely???" Mmmm, yah actually. It sucks, and who knows that better than me? I stressed to my ob in my last pregnancy at EVERY visit that for generations the women in my family (grandmother, mother. . . ) delivered their babies at 5, 7, and 8 months. NEVER A FULL TERM PREGNANCY!! I even brought her info on 17p shots and she just waved me away. . . She wouldn't even agree to simply check my cervix at every visit, or give me more frequent visits. . . Guess I had to learn the hard way to stick up for myself and my baby's well being. They should give you extra stuff for rea__surance after what you have been through as well. I'm very very very pro active this pregnancy and don't feel bad about asking/demanding my peri to give me tests and bascially reasure me with physical proof. (My insurance covers everything and if they didn't I would pay out of pocket) After going to a different ob and proving to him that I had BV at 8 weeks and not just normal discharge, he has never said no to the tests I want during this pregnancy (Salivary Estriol/SalEst test. Fetal fibronectin test. Non-Stress test. Biophysical profile. Cerclage. 17-hydroxy progestrone. Doppler flow check) NONE of them are invasive (cerclage was risky but wasn't optional) and most of them are just for my peace of mind. Like you I am afriad of things I haven't encountered because I've learned so much about them after my daughter pa__sed. (Stillbirth, cord accident, etc) Somethings we cannot control no matter what but at least I will know that my peri and I did EVERYTHING we could to ensure I have a sucessful pregnancy. Like last week I had 1+ protien in my urine which is normal BUT it wasn't checked with my 1st mornings urine it was checked at about 4pm so it wasn't 100% accurate. It could be way higher than that. So I requested a 24 hour urine test (where I pee in the little cups a little everytime I have to use the bathroom for 24 hours then take the samples in and have the lab test them all) that's the only way to get a very accurate result if you don't have high blood pressure or something. So I feel good that I'm doing that just to know where I stand and just to know that everything is ok for now. Anyways, the down side to so many tests (according to my peri) is the suspense and possible unnecessary worry. I don't mind the minor moments of worry, most of the tests I have the results by the end of the visit anyway. Anyway, I'm rambling. I forgot what the point of this post was hehe.

Bacteria Vaginosis. Its when the PH in your v____a is thrown off (your va jay jay jay has a certain amount of good and bad bacteria normally) and the bad bacteria beats up the good bacteria or something like that. Google it for a better explaination.

QBmama, I don't mind sharing my story. I will email it to you rather than post it on this thread. I posted it a long time ago but you will probably have a hard time finding it. I know what you mean about it being very hard emotionally. My little girl was in the care of the NICU doctors for minutes before they gave up on her :( I rather her of pa__sed while they were STILL trying instead of them just quitting, sigh. She breathed on her own for 9 and a half hours, mommy's little fighter, she wanted to be here. I was also on hospitalized bedrest for a week before she was born so I know what you were feeling those 3 weeks or so.

My name is Amy, and my e-mail is annissa at ptd.net. I'm so sorry most importantly about the loss of your little girl and also the struggle with your earlier doctor. You sound so strong and proactive in your posts, and very well-informed. I think it's wonderful you've found a dr who is working along with you as an informed patient in charge of her pregnancy, instead of feeling threatened by your knowledge. I'm sure I've just missed this in earlier threads, I've only recently became a participating member of this site, so excuse me. How far along are you now?

Shopping, thank you so much for sharing all of that info! You go girl on being proactive...keep it up! You've had a rough ride of it and this one will be perfect :) I wish I could push my dr. for more things, but I'm already a nervous wreck so I try not to find too much more to worry about, lol. I may go to my primary care doc and have her do a BV swab just for my peace of mind. She'll probably do whatever I suggest.

More than 4 an hour and you should go to L&D. Laying on your left side, keeping your bladder as empty as possible, and drinking lots of water should help to slow them down.
