I'm going to my doctor later today. I too am having headaches on a daily basis (literally) and don't like the idea of even taking tylenol too much. I'm a big worry wart like that.

I feel for all you ladies that have daily headaches. Im 26 weeks pregnant with my 4th child. Back in 1988 I was in a very bad car accident, ever since that accident I have had a chronic headache problem that wont go away. I have done everything possible and taken every medicine under the sun, and they still wont go away. With every pregnancy they seem to get worse. With this pregnancy they are the worst I have ever seen them. My ob doctor said I could take Vicodin and Ultram for the pain. Im scared to death to take anything but the pain gets so bad that I just have too. I pray and pray that my sweet baby will be ok, but im still scared. I have had several people say that a doctor would not give you anything that wasn't safe for pregnancy, and I do believe that. I just am very scared that im hurting my baby, and I would never do anything to hurt her. Does anybody have these same feelings? I have taken tylenol 3 in the past but it seems to make me very ill, so now i refuse to take it. I have check out that site www.safefetus.com, looking for rea__surance, but I still have my doubts. Im tired of worring every single day, yet im tired of the bad headaches I get everyday....For all the ladies out there who have not not experienced headaches I really envy you, you are sp lucky to not live in pain . To all the ladies who get headaches I really do feel for you. Anyways I wish all you headache suffers the best with your pregnancies and wish you happieness with those precious bundles of joy. If anyone ever needs to talk to someone who suffers with headaches feel free to post me a message anytime. Take Care & God Bless You All ~ Alison :O) ~

I am now 20 weeks pregnant, and I've also been suffering from migraines. I currently have perscriptions for both Davocet and Tylenol W/Codeine. My migraines have got so bad that I had to go to the ER twice. I was told that our condition is caused by hormones. I haven't had a migraine in a couple of weeks now and hope they do not return, but was told they could last my whole pregnancy. I read an article on migraines in a mag. and one of the treatments that are now being used is ma__sage therapy. Maybe you should ask your OB/GYN about this. I have an upcoming appointment with a doctor that covers physical and ma__sage therapy. I am looking forward to trying this treatment, and perhaps you may want to look in to it. You could also try using some Pseudoephed when your headaches are not so bad this will relieve pressure in your head. As long as you take care of yourself I believe your baby will be just fine. It's only natural for you to be concerned about your unborn child, but don't worry to much you don't want to stress yourself out. My husband works in the medical field, and we have several friends that are doctors. I have worried as much as you but have been a__sured many times that these med. will do my baby no harm. I trust my doctor and have been focusing on my on health. Oh, and check this out I was reading this one article on the net put out by some news network. It was about determining the s_x of your child by looking at the symptoms you have during pregnancy. And one of the syptoms found in women that are having boy's is headaches and migraines. I am keeping my fingers crossed because my husband and I are hopping for a little boy, but I know better than getting my hopes up. I just want to close in telling you not to worry and good luck in the remainder of your pregnancy. And may you have a healthy & beautiful baby. And may God bless you and your family.

I am 24 weeks pregnant and have been on tylenol with codeine pretty much throughout this whole pregnancy. My ultrasound looks great and he is very active. I wouldn't worry too much. If you are in pain, it is better not to suffer because the baby will feel your stress from suffering. My ob prescribed the meds and I don't think if a doc had a bad experience with it they would continue prescribing it. Good luck. G-d Bless.

I was just prescribed Tylenol 3 (tylenol with Codeine) for excrutiating pain in my teeth and gums a__sociated with impacted wisdom teeth that I cannot have taken out until after the birth of my baby girl. I am also scared to death to take this medication. Codeine is a Narcotic and seems very unsafe. So I took 1/2 of a pill and it did the trick. The pain is only periodic. But I guess they would not have prescribed it if hey suspect that it would harm the baby. I am 29 weeks (7 months pregnant ) so my baby is pretty much formed already. I would definately be more skeptical if I wa snot in my third trimester.

Had a tootache too. Codiene is a Cla__s C drug. It's unknown if it will cause harm to fetus. In my case, it was jump off a bridge or take the pain meds. My first labor was nothing compared to this toothache.

Your doctor should know best. I suffer migranes also, I refuse to take anything, thats only my irrational fears, I would just rather suffer. I lay in the dark and quiet with a cold washcloth on my head. In Pregnancy for dummies (haha its actualy a good book) They speak of risks from Narcotics and opiates (heroin, methadone, Demerol, morphine and coedine) BUT also says that occasional short term use doesnt cause problems. I wouldnt worry. how far are you? I am now 18 weeks and my migranes are gone, I suffered SO bad 1st and early 2nd trimester, things are looking up Im sure you are fine! Talk to your doc if you have concerns! Good luck!

I have had a really rough pregnancy and I am now in my 14th week. I have had migraines from day one and I was told that I could take the T3's when needed and that it was perfectly safe. At 6 weeks I had a gallbladder attack and was shot up with gravol and demerol and was a__sured that it was safe by my doc. At 11 weeks I had a major bleed and was in so much pain that I was given demerol every half hours for 2 days and the u/s shows a happy healthy baby and still the doc a__sures me that it is safe or they wouldnt give it to me. HTH

conceiveing on methadone - July 15

does taking methadone(leagally) have ant affect on getting pregnant?

andrea - July 16

In answer to the methadone question: I would ask your Doctor. I don't think relying on a message board for a question like that is the best way to go. I hope you get the answer you are looking for. Good Luck!

I am in my second trimester and I still am getting headaches off and on, I amd kinda scared because I heard headaches in this stage could be a sign of preclampsia. I talked to my doctor and he said that as long as I am not swelling or my blood pressure is not high I should be fine , but I am stilll scared.

Hello! I was about 26w along when I got my first kidney stone. They got to be so frequent (pa__sing them) and horrifically painful that I was eventually put on about 160mg of oxycontin per day. This was after weeks of being in and out of the hospital on iv pain meds. After I read up on the medication, I flatly refused to take it. My OB said that my blood pressure shooting up due to pain and stress was far more detrimental to my baby than carefully monitered pain medicine. I ended up taking it for about 9 weeks up until delivery. My daughter suffered NO withdrawals, and today is a happy, healthy two year old. Today I am in the same boat, 7 mos along. Although I am still worried, I know from experience that if you take these medications EXACTLY as prescribed, you are likely to have a good outcome (if you happen to be in a situation where it is necessary to take them in the first place.)

jmmeier - January 1

My doctor prescribed me tylenol with codeine for an extremly painful hernia. I was on it for the last four months of my pregnancy, although I only took them when I couldn't stand the pain anymore. That was 10 years ago, my son was born healthy and still is today. I was very worried about it but time has shown he is just fine.
