Hi,
I have recently been told by a doctor that I had ectopic heartbeats and after lots of tests, my heart has been found to have no problems. The doctor said these extra heart beats which make me feel heart palpitations, can be caused by being tired, caffein or alcohol. But I don't feel overly tired, don't drink much coffee or alcohol. Does anyone else have more info on this condition?
This is my second pregnancy and I have never had this condition before and am wondering if it is somehow caused by this pregnancy???

I am no expert, but I remember reading somewhere that because our blood volume increases so much during pg, some women develop heart murmers. I am not sure if this is the same as what you have, but ask your GP if you are really worried. Apparently everything is supposed to go back to normal after thebaby comes too.

I think heart murmur's are different, he said I didn't have a heart murmur. I'm not really worried, just curious to know more about it. Hopefully it will go back to normal after I have the bub cos its quite annoying.

I had heart palpitations in pregnancy and was told that yes it is normal due to the blood volume. I also had racing heart at times and the dr. said that too was normal unless it got over 140 bpm and stayed that way for several minutes. Mine were usually quick clusters of palpitations and they took my breath away when they happened. All was ok though and they slowed in the 3rd trimester. They are worst in the 2nd trimester as your blood volume builds.
