I've heard the wives tale that if a baby's heart rate is above 140 - it's a girl... under it's a boy. I know it's an old wives tale and some say it's a 50/50 chance... but I am curious as to how many moms had experience with this being acurate?

Both of my pregnancies have been girls...and both have had HR over 140...so I think there may be some truth to it.

The old wives tale is based on the theory that a boys hr will be lower due to him being bigger. There is absolutely NO truth to it as it completely depends on whether the baby is active or not when they take the heart rate. My dd was nearly always under 140 & my ds was nearly always above 140 which is opposite to the old wives tale. I am currently 30wks with #3 & it's hr has been a good mixture of over 140's & under 140's so it will be interesting what s_x it turns out to be (we didn't find out).
