I have heard that HB lower than 140 bpm is boys, higher than 140 girls. But does this have any scientific basis- is it an old wives tale I wonder? Anyway, I am having a boy--his HB at 12 weeks was 159 bpm and at 21 weeks it was 140 bpm.

at 7 weeks it was 175.. at 13 weeks it was 150...... at 20 weeks it was 130 but baby moves around alot so the doctor couldn't really get a very accurate heart rate and we know its a boy viz 20 weeks ultrasound.. and I have been researching and heartrate that are low at birth ie during labour are usually boys and at labour time girls are higher.....so they say...

The baby's heartbeat is not constant throughout the pregnancy. Additionally studies have shown gender has no effect on the heart rate. You still have a 50% chance of predicting the gender though!!!
