How To Deal With Husband S Disappointment

Just found out today that we're having a little girl! But husband was really disappointed...seems he had somewhat secretly worked hisself up for another boy. I'm not really sure how to react to his disappointment, was hoping for some tips... This is baby number 3! We have a daughter 4 1/2 and a son 2! We had both said we didn't have a preference as long as baby's healthy. But daughter really wanted a baby sister, so atleast she is happy. Hubby is a great daddy and he loves our children more than anything! I just wasn't expecting any disappointments(except maybe from our daughter)...and for his disapointment to hit him so hard. I'm just not sure how to react. I found out baby's s_x during an ultrasound my DR ordered(due to my HG and now severe weight loss) to check on baby's growth and organs, placenta positioning and fluid levels, and lastly my scar tissue. I won't be getting all results until 22nd. And while I'm somewhat anxiously awaiting some good news...my hubby's all blue.

I don't get it! As long as your baby is healthy it's not like you can choose what you're going to have. If that were me I would tell him to suck it up because you can't change anything and his moodiness may affect how you're feeling. I'm really not sure how I would react, I think I would be more annoyed than anything but you don't seem to be so maybe telling him to suck it up may be a bit harsh. Maybe just mention to him that the health of the baby is the most important thing and although he is disappointed it's upsetting to you to see him this way... eeh I'm not sure. Hope he brightens up soon for your sake and good luck with everything!

AmbientGirl, thanks so much for your response. Things have worked themselves out...Sister-In-Law had called to congradulate me, made a comment to which I just bursted into tears at...then she apparently makes call to her brother. So next thing I know Hubby's done 180 and is calling me with the name he's picked out. So I guess your approach though not delivered by me was the best! (Dang these hormones, all the touchiness, and vulnerablity!) Anyway, got some mixed results...baby's measurements and organ developement all good!!! Fluid levels check out. Saw my first weight gain (nothing major, but every ounce feels like a milestone at this point). But have been cla__sified high risk now due to front low-lying placenta and scar tissue (from previous c-sections). So yeah more tests scheduled, and more restrictions, and more possible complications. On the bright side at least I'll be getting more pics, right?
