I am 5'5" and 119 lbs pre-pregnancy. I am now almost 15 weeks and have gained 7 pounds!! This is my first pregnancy. Is this normal? I feel like I have gained too much - what if I loose a few pounds- would that be bad? I don't want to harm the baby, but I have heard that too much weight gain can also be bad for the baby and cause heart problems and other things.

you are fine, thinner peopole tend to put on more weight at first during their pregnancy. You need it to be able to nourish the baby and to be able to carry around the weight. 7 pounds is perfect. I've put on 9. As long as you aren't suddenly putting on 7/week! Now you should be putting on about 2-3 pounds a month.

I'd gained much more than you by the time I was 15 weeks. It was very worrying because I've always been the right weight for my height. The midwife isn't worried about me though and my baby is fine. Don't diet until you've had the baby. You might deprive yourself and your baby of vital nutrients.
