My son's (12 months old) name is Caden. Now I am pregnant with our 2nd boy and the only name my df and I could agree on was Damien. Seriously, we went through 3 baby name books and this was the only name we walked away with. We decided on this name about 5wks ago and now I am starting to dislike it a little. The reason being because it sounds so similiar to Caden. A little cheesy?? I brought up my slight hesitation of the name the other night and df balked at the thought that we would need to come up with another name. I need some honest opinions on this name, and also how you would feel havings 2 sons named Caden & Damien. Thanks!!

I don't think Caden and Damien sound too much alike. I love the name Damien and suggested to my husband and family my last pregnancy before we knew the s_x and all they had to say was hell no, because it means devil or something stupid like that. I love the name, go for it.

Haha that's funny that you mention it means "devil" because my Mom reacted the same way about the name. It actually has Greek origins and means "to tame". The "devil-child" meaning apparently comes from a horror movie made in the 80's (?) that starred a boy named Damien in it. See what movies do to perfectly good names? hehe. Thanks for your opinion. My df also argued that he didn't think the two names sounded the same.

LOL, I actually like the name but it is the name of the little boy in the movie The Omen...he's satan's spawn or something like that. I can't ever hear the name anymore without hearing his name being screamed in that movie! I don't think it sounds too much like Caden, but realize many people are going to a__sociate it with the movie...

I don't think they sound alike either....I have seen that movie but like a million years ago. I know they did a remake but I don't torture myself with scary movies anymore....I think that is very cute to have Caden(gotta love that name) and Damien. My boys have kind of similiar names Tristan and Aidan and we have decided to name our little girl Megan I for one love that all the names are 2 syllables and end in AN Hope that helps

I think you should just go with a name you like - no matter what anyone else thinks or has named their kids. So what if they have a kid with the same or similar name - it's YOUR kid and who's to say you'll be friends with them forever - or for that matter, your kid. :)

the only thind that makes the names sound the tiniest bit similar is the 'a" in both their names...but thats it....otherwise i think that they dont sound the slightest bit cheesey,,,i think they are great, masculine strong sounding names!

They're both great names and I think they sound adorable together. I'm not one for cheesiness at all, so I would say if I thought it sounded cheesey :)
