haha This may be in my head but I am curious. If I sit down for more then 5-10 minutes at a time my butt goes numb. haha. and its usually on the right cheek. No cramps or anything but just an uncomfortable numbness. Does anyone else have this? haha I keep laughing at myself for even posting this.

Might be a sciatic nerve problem brought on by the pregnancy. If so, this should go away after the birth.

I found this~The nerve roots that exit the spine to form the sciatic nerve are extremely sensitive, and the inner portion of the disc that may herniate or extrude contains proteins that are inflammatory and can easily irritate the nerve. Therefore, if some of the inner portion of the disc (the nucleus) comes too close to the nerve, the nerve may be irritated and become inflamed, causing sciatic pain - or sciatica.
The sciatica symptoms one feels (sciatic nerve pain, numbness, tingling, weakness) tend to be different depending on where the pressure on the nerve occurs. The patient’s pain and sciatica symptoms can usually be traced to where the injured/irritated nerve originates in the lower back.

I agree, I'm sure there are many degrees of severity with this problem, where you may or may not have pain, just numbness. My dad, who's been overweight most of his life, gets sciatica each time he loses weight, poor thing. He definitely has pain & numbness that radiates from either "cheek" down the back of his thigh. He usually has to sit on a donut-type pillow when it flares up the most. It's something you can mention to your doctor at your next check up, unless it gets more bothersome, then you should probably call ahead of time. Good luck! :-)

jennifer, i had something similar to this happen to me around 16-17 weeks. but it was in my left hip/thigh rather than b___t cheek. it went away after a few weeks. it turned out that the baby was putting pressure on a nerve, which was causing my hip and leg to fall asleep. when the baby got a little bigger and moved position, he/she stopped touching a nerve and i haven't had any problems since. perhaps it's something similar for you.

I have been suffering this a few week so me just found out at the weekend I am pregnant, I didn't think it was related but when I just Googled 'numb bum when sitting for more than 5 minutes' this is the first result that appeared. It's been driving me nuts as I get the train to and from work and sit all day in an office. As no one here yet knows about my pregnancy it's difficult to find reasons to leave me desk. How long did it last for some people? I'm wondering if it is even related for me as I'm only 5 weeks at most.
