Okay so me and DH decided against doing the screening testing thats typically done from 16 to 20 weeks. The doctor talked to us about this and told us the possibility of getting false results during the blood testing and then if we had to have a amnio that it could be harmful for me since I am in a very high risk pregnancy (4 miscarriages, and currently on blood thinners to retain pregnancy). We decided to not do this only because of the possible misscarriage, but because we want a baby so much that it would not matter what the results would be we would still go through with the pregnancy. As my husband said...It is what it is, and no test result is going to change the way we love our baby. Just wondering if anyone else chose to not have the testing done?

Good for you Caseyann. You have to do what you and DH think is right for you both. My DH and I didn't do the amnio either and I am fine with it. We did do the u/s where they measure all the anatomy etc. That was exciting since we got to see the baby again and found out it was a girl! The only reason we felt it would be good to do is for preparation. My DH has a history of heart defects in his family and myotonic dystopohy, so we felt that we would certainly keep the baby either way, but we would like to be prepared in the event that the baby had a problem/issue, since we would have to go to a different hospital to deliver. Thankfully, everything looked good and the blood work we did came back fine. It's all a matter of personal choice. Don't let anyone bully you into doing something you don't want to do. You sound like a loving and committed mom to be and want what is best for your baby and I'm sure everything will work out very well for you. Good luck with whatever you decide :)

we didnt do the testing either... I had an NT scan done at 11 weeks and that was good enough for me. I agree with your husband, no matter what happens she is still my little girl and I will love her just he same. :) congrats on the pregnancy by the way :) hope everything goes well for you and your family!
