I had my 20 week scan last night and both techs said if they had to make a guess, they would say the baby is a girl. But, she's breech and her foot was covering the area so they both said they couldnt be sure. has anyone ever had this happen to them? Should I assume baby is a girl?
Baby is 100% healthy which is the greatest part of all!!!!

congrats on your healthy baby. some are known to keep their parents guessing my covering up when the scan time arrives. its something you can laugh about after you have had the baby!! good luck with everything.

Do you get another scan? I would go get one of those 3D or 4D scans, but that's of course if you can afford it. I don't think they are that expensive anymore...maybe $130 bucks? Plus you'll get to have a video and some nice pictures on top of finding out!

well...I wouldn't count on it. :) I'd be prepared for anything! It's more likely to miss guess gender on girls than boys - and if they aren't certain...I'd hold off on going crazy on girl clothes. :) I'd go for a 3D scan if it's affordable - I always wanted to do that just for fun but never really got around to it.

I wouldn't a__sume anything...because it could turn out to be a very expensive a__sumption! I have a friend whose baby wouldn't "reveal" during all 4 of her 2D/3D ultrasounds. Baby was also breech. She ended up never turning and they didn't find out till D-Day that baby was a girl. I would wait a few more weeks and perhaps pay to get a 3D ultrasound done. They are really amazing and hopefully by then your baby will be more co-operative. I am actually going for my 3D ultrasound today!!

BTW my 3D u/s (including 4 pics & a 30 min DVD) will cost $175. I live in Canada though and I think it may be cheaper down in the States if that is where you are located.

i just got my 3d and 4d video scan last week, at 15 weeks and even tho they do the 3d scan they give you some normal black and white scan pics and they founf out the gender thro that, definatly a boy they usaly can either see or count the dots. if im correct one gender has like 3 dots and the other only has 2??... i wouldnt bank on having a girl just yet how did they 'guess' when the leg was covering up the genitals? did they see something or not?. if so then it could be a girl or a boy!

I definitely wouldn't a__sume anything! When my friend was born (a girl), the dr held the baby up and said 'congratulations on your little boy' -apparently there was lots of swelling down there and doc thought he saw a p___s!!!! and this was when the baby was born!!! Like pp's said, if you want to know the gender, I'd try and schedule a 3d/4d u/s. We have our 3d/4d u/s scheduled for next saturday and I'm so excited!!! Yay, DDT and Softbreeze, I'm in Nova Scotia and our session is $175 at uc baby....can't wait!:)

I schelduled a gender check ultrasound for Tuesday night at the place that does the 3d/4d ultrasounds. They are just going to do a 2d to verfiy gender, the tech said she will try for as long as she needs to until she see's it. I think 20 weeks is too soon for a 3d. They dont recommend you go until at least 24 weeks. When did you guys have your 3d?

The place where we're going for the 3d/4d u/s recommended going between weeks 26-30 (good detail and still room for movement). I'll be 28 weeks when we go next week.

I got mine done yesterday and I am 26wks along. I got it done at UC Baby. I went there 2x with my first pregnancy and loved them. Yesterday at the u/s baby was already very cramped. Legs folded up to his face...but we got some great pics and of course the 30 min DVD. He was sucking his thumb, yawning, crossing his legs, moving his tongue around, opening his eyes...ect. Great experience! if you want to see some pics check out my website: thenestefamily.piczo.com (look under "While Damien was in Mommy's belly").

LAUR81 as i said im my last post i was 15weeks and had the gender prediction package and got 3d,4d. you can have a 3d done at anytime, genetals are well defined at 11weeks pregnant, they say they dont reccomend this only because of development of baby, its still skinny and small and a face shot of the baby is harder. i got mine done purley to see gender, altho my son did put on a little show he was smileing and waving and suckin g his thumb and cuddling ther placenta and i seen strong facial features my other son and me already have!:) goodluck
