Ekay_ i hope everything goes well for you guys... A new house and a new start can be exciting!. I have heard though that pregnant women shouldn't clean litter boxes. Idk why. Just something in cat urine or poop that can hurt you. You may want to look into it... Of course idk if your hubby would be willing to change it. Thank goodness for my mom. Otherwise our cats would have to stay outside....

yea, cat feces can carry toxompasis (sp?) that is dangerous to the baby. but they say indoor cats are usually not as prone to it and if you have owned cats for a long time, you are probably already immune to it. But i still have my hubby clean out our litter box, its a nice to have a break from it!

mommam and ekay, I'm happy to hear your news ;) I just called my doc and they want to see me on monday when I told them about my legs and ankles. they said it's not normal to have such swelling at 22 weeks. I got more worried when I saw how shocked my work friends were when I showed them my ankles. my mom wanted me to call so I did. so we'll see, hopefully it's nothing!!! going to get my f/u ultrasound in the morning so I'll get to see my little casey tomm!! have a good night everyone

Gabby- Are you sitting a lot during the day? I found last pregnancy (and this one) that if I'm sitting my legs/ ankles swell up pretty bad. This time around I told my hubby we HAD to buy a recliner so I could lay back and prop my feet up (plus it will be nice to have after baby is born to rock her). It has helped tons to be able to elevate my legs. Keep us posted on what the doc says!

Morning ladies! How is everyone? I am okay but i do have a question and i think one of the vets will probably have to answer it. So 2 nights ago I decided I would shave my vajayjay. I use to all the time before I got pregnant but it is just getting harder and harder to reach so i decided i would do it ocasionally. So i used shaving cream and cleaned it up down there.... (bald) lol. And yesterday and today my vajayjay is swollen and it hurts, like when i wipe. Could i be reacting to the shaving cream or do you think it might be something else? sorry for so much detail but im curious.

Aahhh Mommam, I can always trust you to put a smile on my face in the morning! You're too funny with the words you use. Anyways, I have also recently 'trimmed' , although not to your standards!, and I think what it is is possibly with the lack of hair, you are possibly noticing something that has actually been there all along. You're organs down there are so swollen and sensitive anyways due to increased blood flow and I notice sometimes down there it feels like I have been having s_x for hours and hours the night before, when it's really been a week since I got laid. So I think it's nothing to worry about. And about the litterbox thing-here's my mentality after some research. Toxoplasmosis is a disease transmitted through vermin (rats, mice, etc.) either being eaten by a cat or the vermin biting the cat, etc. Anyways, the disease is output in the cat feces and I believe transmitted orally. Once you contract toxoplasmosis, you are immune to it thereafter, is what I heard. I have been around cats, literally my whole life and it's not like I sit crosslegged around the litterbox tasting the samples. I wash my hands thouroughly after I scoop it too. I know it's a very serious thing, but to be honest I've never worried about it. Anyways, I have been getting so sick at night, it's making it hard to sleep. I am not complaining because I like to feel her move, but sometimes she moves so much at night, it literally makes me naseaus.

Oh yeah, and all my cats are indoor cats and have never been outdoors. Forgot to add that, so they've not come into contact with rats or anything.

Thanks ekay i feel much better. i figured you would know. And yes it does feel like we had s_x all night and now i cant walk...lol. I have another question for you. Did you get your kids vaccinated (sp) ? I saw the whole autism (sp- i sp really bad lol) thing on TV yesterday and now I am worried about that. I don't want my kids to contract other things but idk what is the right thing to do now a days. I talked to my mom and she got me and my brother shots when we was little but things are so different now.... Any advice anyone?

ekay03 - April 3

I have a very good friend who's son is autistic and she swears up and down that it's related to vaccines, even though pediatricians and the government agencies swear up and down they aren't related. It really is a tough decision to make-do you not vaccinate and put your child at risk of serious diseases or do you vaccinate and put your child at risk of serious diseases? I think the main component which is mercury/other metals is what was believed to cause autism, however I have heard conflicting information regarding the continuing usage of mercury/other metals in vaccinations. And to be honest, the first vaccine is administered VERY shortly after birth, so if this is something you are considering opting out of, you need to make that clear before you deliver. The vaccine after birth, which I believe is some sort of Hepat_tis vaccine, doesn't even have to happen that shortly after being born, so if you want to talk to your pediatrician first, you have that opportunity. I have had all my kids vaccinated, but it can make your mind whirl to talk to someone who has an autisic child and is 100% convinced that the vaccines our doctors recommend are the culprit.

See that's my point. The parents of children who have it swear it was the shots. But you would think that if it was in fact the shots the government and fda would be all over it. I think I am going to have a talk with my doc on tuesday. I don't want Mason to get sick from something else but i need to figure out what is best for him... Thanks for the info ekay!

CNASMOM, how are you doing today? It sounds like you are having a hard time of it. Just hang in there pumpkin! Just focus on your little kids smiling faces and the little one inside you. That always makes me feel better (except when my little kids are screaming at eachother and trashing my house, but you know what I mean!)

ekay03 - April 3

Well, you probably don't want to get me started on the FDA and government involvement in this. You WOULD think they would be all over it, unless they were, I don't know, for example profiting in some way from the manufacturing and distribution of these vaccines, which they are. Everytime I hear something about this on TV, there is some suit from some government agency defending the manufacturers and the vaccine, but I always wonder what deal has been struck for them to do that. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Just talk to your doctor. :-)

Morning ladies!! Sorry I missed you yesterday - work was nuts!! I have to read and catch up!! Gabby - I am not sure about the swelling. I ahve noticed that by the end of the day soemtimes my feet are slightly swollen, but nothing liek you are describing. I am glad your getting in to see the dr. I hope it is nothing. But I hear ya about the shoe thing!! :) Mommam - that is great news about your hours!! :) A bit of a stress reliever too I bet! I have had the same thing happen after shaving the bits and just a__sumed it was a reaction to the shaving cream! Although I am having a hard time reaching there now, I am thinking it may have to go to waxing - but the pain with that turns me off! Maybe I should look at it as prep for early labour!! Yikes! Ekay - Is it from all the movement you feel that makes you nauseus??? Wow!! I dont feel near anything like that. I hoep that sickness goes away soon - a girl needs her sleep, especially with the daily load that you have. I ahve heard that about the litter stuff too, as well as to stay away from livestock while pregnant. But I have three horses that I can't stay away from. I see them everyday, although I stoppped riding when I found out I was preggers out of fear of hurting the baby, but I groom them and snuggle them everyday and so fara so good. There seems to be so much out there that we are not allowed to do or go near or eat, that it makes a person crazy trying to figure it all out. I had not even heard about this autism thing???>>>>Vacines are thought to cause autism?? Really??

So here is my funny story for the day... I bawled all the way to work this morning listening to the radio. Tehya re doinga three day telethon to raise money for our new childrens hospital that they are building here and they had all these parents and children on the air telling their horrific medical stroies and how they all have had to go out of province or even out of country to get medical help and how some families couldn't afford it or gave up everything for just one procedure and on and on. They were so sad, and I cried and cried but still couldn't change the station. What a sap! Then they mentioned for all of you that are lsiten ing that are expecting a new baby this could be you... talk about strike a preggo's emotional cord!! Everyone at work was wondering why I looked so shocking when I walked in this morning, eyes all red and puffy!! lol!! :)

elizhope - April 3

okay okay, wait a minute..... vaccines cause autism??!?!? i am seriously worried now. do we vaccine our kids? what is the best choice???

ekay03 - April 3

Lord, we're stressing out pregnant women here! It isn't 100% certain, but it is believed that the metals used as a preservative, I think it is, affect some part of the brain in SOME kids and CAN cause autism. Different people will argue different things. They might not even use mercury anymore. The best thing to do it talk with the pediatrician you are going to use.
