Hi ladies,
I am due around 10 october. I need to go overseas in mid november. Do u think its advisable to take a 4 or 5 week old baby on a 14 hour flight. Has anyone done this before.

Wow that would be brave of you! I'm not sure I would even feel well enough to travel myself then! But I've always had c-sections so go figure. I don't know what to tell you about the long flight, have you asked a doctor?

I don't see why you couldn't. Just as long as you can get up and walk around the plane if you need to rock baby to sleep. I would ask the baby's pediatrician. Baby's immune systems are still devloping and you wouldn't want her to catch anything. You always hear about ppl going overseas and getting sick from "something".

I have never taken a LO on a plane and a 14 hour flight is very long, but, my first thought was if you are going to do it I would imagine it would be easier when they are only tiny as they will likely sleep most of the time unlike an older baby who is more active and will get bored and restless - does that make sense? As long as you have everything at hand you need and are able to walk up and down as someone else mentioned I would imagine it would go ok. But I also second what was said about the immune system you'll be in an enclosed space with lots of people and there will be a chance of germs going about, but then that's true of being on a bus or in many other places I suppose! Hope it goes well and all the best with your little one! I am due October too, the 22nd ;-) xxx
