Well i know this is really scary, but its good to know that this is not so uncommon. I am 17 weeks pregnant and I started bleeding 3 weeks ago. It started out as a gush of bright red blood. then i went to the doctor and they told me that it was because my placenta was tearing away from my uterus and that it was nothing to worry about.I have been spotting ever since. Every morning when i wake up to go to the bathroom there is dark blood clots in the toilet. Ive been freaking out ever since

Amanda, I had the same thing happen to me at 13 weeks with bright red blood and clots. They told me my placenta was tearing away as well. I am now almost 22 wks but it took about 5 wks of spotting before all the blood was out. My baby is perfectly fine ant the tear never got any worse. As long as there is no more bright red blood I am sure your pregnancy will be fine. God bless.

Hi again to everyone!! I wanted to tell everyone that it has been almost 2 weeks now with no spotting no nothing!!!! I went to doc. on Friday and I was still told to rest and take it easy but I do not have to go back for follow up for another month!! See .... prayer, positive att_tude, relaxation, NO HOUSEWORK, cleaning of anything and most important...... LAYING OFF THE STRESS,,,,, has worked so far for me and I thank god everytime I use the bathroom. I am positive my baby is going to be just fine and I am sure all of your babies will be too!!! I am 18 weeks and 1 day so far. I am almost half way there to see my new baby #3.

Gary, if I may, i will say your GF needs some extra TLC at this time. Make sure she doesn't lose hope and stress too much. Also, she must rest as much as possible. No getting off her feet, no pelvic activity and lots of relaxation. I think this will work just fine. Even if the docs say bed-rest may not help so early in the pg, what's the harm I say? If you read these hundreds of posts here, you will see most of us rested and prayed and things worked out well. So don't lose hope! Everything will be fine. Good Luck!!!

Hi Again, I posted a week or so ago and have been reading so many of your stories. It is so good to hear that things turn out good for so many of you. I did get some goos news last week when I went back to the doctor. she did another ultra sound and said that she thinks that the placenta has moved and that my bleeding was caused by a hemorage. My baby is growing and looks very healthy. She said that I should still be careful, No hard work, Lifting, or s_x but she thinks everything should be fine. She is going to send me to a specialist to do another ultra sound just in case. Please keep your fingers crossed that she is right and that my placenta is moving.

I had my 20 week ultra sound last week and I am having my third daughter :-) I have an 11yr. old an 8 yr. old and now a new baby on the way. I have not had any bleeding now for 30+ days but I am still not being released to work. I was told to increase my activity and come back in a week. Well now I have painful tightening of my stomach when ever I do anything, I walked 2 blocks to get my kids from school and I thought I was going to have to send for a rescue truck to make it home. I cant even grocery shop and I have been doing that the entire time i have been on home rest, but all of the sudden I hurt to do anything. Does anyone else have similar situations? Iam now 21 wks. 1 day. Jenny

Jenny, Could you be having Braxton-Hicks contractions? I started having them around 21 weeks and they can get painful. My doctor said you are more likely to have them if you have had previous pregnancies. But, as long as they aren't regular (more than 4 per hour) and they subside with rest there shouldn't be a problem. However, I would call the Doc anyway just so you will feel better.

I just went to the dr and he said the baby isnt as far along as it should be and I may misscary he is not sure how far along I am he thought 7 weeks but he said it may be not as far along has anyone had this problem and still had the baby....

Millie - March 3

Christina, If you read my previous posts you may read how one of my babies had this problem. I was told that one of them was not measuring as far as it should. Actually I had had a lot of bleeding. At one of my appointments the doc told me that the baby is measuring smaller and doesn't have a heart beat. (I was told I was experiencing VTS-Vanishing Twin Syndrome) The baby measured smaller and smaller (no beat) for next two weeks. So we a__sumed it was gone. My husband was the only one who kept hope and believed against all odds that that baby was still there. To our amazement it did show up after two weeks with a sound heart-beat and right where he should measure!! So weired things are known to happen. Was your doc able to see the baby? Or it was covered with something like blood maybe??? That's why he couldn't measure? Do keep hope. It could go either ways. But whatever happens will be in the best interest of the baby. Good luck!

I am sympathizing with all of you. I am in my 15 week, and about a week ago I started to bleed and have moderate cramping. At first it was pink, but since then it has gone from bright red to dark brown and everywhere between. I have been to the hospital, and seen three of the five Doctors in my group. At all visits, the baby seems to be doing fine. Although this is great news, not one of them can give me an answer as to why this is happening. I am very scared, nervous, and frustrated. I would think that with the technology we have today, someone should be able to give me an answer. I feel as if I am walking on egg shells, afraid to do anything to make the situation worse. Good luck to all!!!!! Danielle

To everyone, I found out this weekend from my sister who is a nurse practicioner that our pregnant bodies increase blood supply by atleast 50%. I knew we increased our blood supply but 50% is alot of extra blood. So on the lighter side those of us that have extra extra weight can look forward to loosing those extra pounds :-) but on the more serious side the extra blood is partly in our v____al area so any little blood vesel can bleed or if we do to much one day we may notice a little spotting a couple of days later because these blood vesels have been strained. Thinking of the bleeding this way keeps me sain. I always think I am loosing the baby but at each ER visit my cervix is closed (except my 1st visit) and the baby is growing properly. I am now 22 weeks pregnant and counting. I also found out from my doctor and delivery nurses at the hospital that the chances of the baby surviving goes up 50% at 24weeks pregnant. because the lungs are starting to form at 23 weeks and 24 weeks they get a little tissue. The baby of course needs the extra 16 weeks to be completly healthy, but after 24 weeks I know I will panic less when there are issues. Take care and God bless you and your little ones.

Hello all - I wrote on this website several months ago. It was such a huge help and support!!! I have since had two beautiful boys... they were born at 28 weeks and spent 46 days in the special care nursery. They have since been sent home and all is well... thank you for the postings and support. Take care to all!!!

I started bleeding at 15 wks at first it was brown for a week or so then it turned bright red with lots of clots. this has been going on for 4 wks now. i have been on bedrest and nothing seems to help some days the bleeding is a little less than other days and sometimes it soaks pads. everytime i go to the midwife or have an u/s everything appears fine. it's hard to believe you can bleed so much for so long and still be ok. this is the first site i have found that has anything to say about 2nd trimester bleeding thanks to all. it has really helped to know that i'm not alone.

Millie - March 8

Congratulations to mrgreen532. Enjoy your little miracles. To dawn, I know it can be frustrating, but keep hope. Untimately we'll all have happy and healthy babies, Amen!!!
