Thanks for welcome notes... much appreciated! This is my first, and it's completely unplanned. Took me, and my BF (his first too) by big surprise. I think he's in major shock actually- especially after the ultrasound today. freaking out about finances, and that we don't live in the right school district, we need a bigger house, etc. Gosh. I get where he's coming from, but seriously, I think we can make a plan for the future that makes everything fall into a better place for this child. I know we are already 5 months along, but, well there is time. I'm concentrating on all of the more immediate needs to be addressed, and a__suring that I'm being healthy and hoping that the baby is too. I'm 36 and he's 43- So I think we can do this ya know! (Sorry about the vent, and thanks...)

I am so sure you will do everything just fine. The best part about having a baby is there is no real way to plan. When you try to plan - it tends to just go all different directions. We are working on our house, and I know we are never going to be finished, my husband is having a stroke over it. and I feel like oh well, the baby's coming regardless, why worry!!! Let's just enjoy these pregnancies and the little ones!!!

Hi girls, hope everyone is well. Just one question- I have gained about 12 pounds so far at 22 weeks, is that too much? I only gained 18 total last time. This has been a hell of a week...TGIF everyone! Colleen

TaraO - August 8

Colleen, I don't think that's too much, I had gained 10 as of July 20th - I think I gained a few more pounds this month - I go next week (Thursday). I gained alot before and I am hoping I stay under the 25- 35 that's normal. I didn't before. As long as your doctor doesn't think its too much, then you are fine. Mine said that everyone is different, and so is every pregnancy. Question - I am getting really anxious about my next visit, between weight gain, my ultrasound, and everything else - It seems to be like a week before each appointment, that's all I think about - Anyone else???

Colleen- I dont think that is too much. You are already over half way through with the pregnancy. Even if you gain another 12 throughout the rest of the pregnancy that would only be 24 total. Thats really good!! I gained a whooping 40 last time! Hopefully I dont do that again :o0

Thanks girls, I just don't want to have a hard time losing the weight. Tara- my next appt is Friday the 15th and I have been nervous all week, I can totally relate. When is your ultrasound? Jess- Are you still at 0 weight gained? When do you do to the doctor next? I just can't wait to get into the 3rd Tri, I think I will feel better than. Colleen

hey Colleen, Thanks - it makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one. I have my us and appt the same day on 8/14 at 900 am. I always make the first appt - otherwise I'd be nuts all day. Where is everyone from - state/country wise. Hope that's not to personal - Just seems as if every state has its own medical procedures for appointments, etc. I am from NJ

I'm an Ohio girl. Even though this is new to me... I really think it's hard to wait until the next appointment! I was very lucky to get an ultrasound so quickly after my 1st appointment- it was a miracle, actually. I have to wait until 28 weeks to go for my next ultrasound. That is LOOOONG! I have the genetic councling and previous blood test and US results this coming monday. I am very anxiously awaiting those appointments and am so very nervous too. My doc says after 28 weeks, they do an US every 2 weeks, then after 36 weeks, every week. Does that make sense to you girls? I want another ultrasound, right now! ... it was increadible to watch the screen, unbelievable! Really made it all click for me. And as I'm so behind, i needed that click to happen! Good luck to all of you- it's great to hear your experiences.

you are lucky to get another us/ my doctor said only at 20 weeks and then if needed toward the end. Well I had my last one at 13 weeks for the first trimester screening which was sometime in early June, and I have one Thursday - it feels so far between though - I can't wait and I hope they do more.

Tara- I was such a nervous wreck in the beginning that my doctor had me in every 2 weeks to hear the heartbeat and humor me. I'm from CT and typically they do scan 13 weeks NT, 18-20 weeks Anatomy and 33 weeks. I have to have another at 28 weeks b/c of the spot they saw on the baby's liver at the 18 week scan. Last time I was pregnant I had many scans due to complications so I'm having a hard time waiting for the next scan. Feeling the movement now does help me feel better though. I just hope this pregnancy is smoother than the last. Has anyone rented a fetal doppler? I had considered it, but it's kind of expensive. Micsmms- wow you guys get alot of scan, you are so lucky! Personally, I think it's great toward the end as last time I had low fluid and they would not have know if not for the scan. Tara- good luck at your scan, it's so exciting to find out the s_x! I have my appt the next day 8/15 no scan though. Colleen

Hi all! Speaking of scans, I go for another one tomorrow. I got one at 19 weeks and everything was fine, I am now almost 24 weeks. I have been having alot of cramping and pressure and they want to measure my cervix to make sure it is not thinning. Please cross your fingers for me that everything is okay.

clindholm - August 12

jess- crossing fingers and toes for you! Good luck and let us know how you make out. Colleen

jessb - August 12

Hey girls- Just an update. They measured the thickness of my cervix. A few weeks ago it was 4.5 and now it is 3.8. They said anything over 3 is good, however they are concerned that it is thinner than a few weeks ago. They just have to watch it closely. If it goes under 3 I will have to be on bed rest. I did get more pictures of the baby. I had them double check- its still a girl :o) How is everyone else doing? Is

Does anyone have names picked out yet? I think we finally settled on Brooke Angelia B.

clindholm - August 13

Hi Jess- I'm glad they're keeping a good eye on you. How often with they repeat the ultrasounds? I love Brooke Angela, its so pretty. We are going with Lucas William for our little one. My next appt is Friday the 15th, then an ultrasound on 9/17 to check the spot on the baby's liver. I'm hoping it's completely gone by then.

TaraO - August 13

Hi girls, I think the names Brooke and Lucas are beautiful. I am glad everyone is feeling well. I can't wait until tomorrow. I couldn't sleep last night knowing that I have one more day till the ultrasound - I will hopefully find out if it is a boy or girl. My husband picked out Michael for a boy,( his dad's name). But we have Nina Sophia for a girl! I don't know - i will let you know hopefully tomorrow. Today I am tired - Bad case of heartburn all night long!! I think I watched 10 hours of the Olympics instead of sleeping Jess - stay resting !!!
