I just started the Bradley method class last night. I was wondering if anyone else was planning a natural birth or has been through one before???

I would love to do a natural childbirth. That is my plan. I am not going to refuse medicine if I think I need it though. My sister and cousin did it natural, and thought it went perfectly fine!

I had a natural child birth with my daughter two years ago. Of course it hurt - that goes without saying... but with my second one due in the spring I'll try for natural again. I'm really glad I did a natural child birth because the minute she was born I felt incredible! And drugs can often slow a labour/delivery down. You'll never hear me say that drugs are for wimps or anything negative whatsoever about them... however for me I was really happy with my natural childbirth. Good luck!

I had natural child birth with my daughter and I loved it, the only bad thing was I went from 2cm to holding my daughter in a hour, the nurses had to deliver her lol, I still have not decided if I am going natural again or not. lol hope all goes well for you!

Hello ladies! Not many responded I am surprised. I honestly thought that there are more of us out there that go natural. I am pregnant with my fourth and I am also planning to do it all by my self without any medication, although I always keep it in mind . But I never end up asking for it. Since my doc. always told me that it could slow the labor down. The last thing you need at labor is to stretch time. I know any and every women can do it natural only if you set your mind to it and just go for it. Also the medication is comforting, but not good for you or the baby. Good luck to all.

HOME BIRTH FOR ME! so totally natural and comfortable. DD # 1 was hospital birth...horrible, total stupid doc intervention and felt depressed and miserable emotionally and physically afterwards. So decided on #2 at home. Was perfect! # 3 due at end of Feb and will do home birth as well. So sad to hear the horror stories of hospital births with picotin, oxytocin, epidurals, episiotomies and c-sections. Stats say that most hospitals have well over 60% NON natural (intervention) births...and some hospitals have about 40% c-section rate. I wish women would read and learn about the birthing process and empower and prepare themselves and not let the doctors take the birth over for them! Good luck!

i had two natural births in a great hospital. just a bit of gas for me to take the edge off those final contractions. no tears, no worries! i even got to spend two of the days in a luxury hotel with bubs and the family =)

I will definitely say that I envy you girls! I had to have a c-section with my daughter because my pelvic opening was too narrow (about 2 1/2 inches bone to bone). Needless to say that I will have to have another c-section with this baby. :( The recovery is ok, but I wish I could have experienced a shorter recovery -- surgery is so scary. Good luck everyone!

My DH and I discussed natural birth. I read up on drugs and it slows down labor. But I'm a wimp for pain LOL....so I'm gonna go in wanting natural birth and if it hurts to bad, I'm asking for drugs. Don't hold it against me!! LOL..If it comes to me being relaxed and able to push, than I'll do drugs.

I hope to do a natural birth too, I have a midwife who has hospital privileges, so I'll still be there in case, since this is my first. but she'll be able to really help with the pain, and coaching me through it so I'm confident it'll be just fine! I wouldn't rule it out of course, since I've never been there, but I'm not so good with the needles so I'd have to be at a pretty heavy pain level before a ma__sive needle into my spinal cord sounded like a good idea! Besides, I DONT want any of the induction drugs or any of that. too many episodes of baby story where drugs led to c-sections.

I unfortuneatly had drugs with my 1st (dd) & it not only slowed down labour but because it put my dd to sleep they refused to give me more when they wore off so I went from feeling very little to feeling the VERY painful end contractions, with no time for my body to make endorphins to cope. With my 2nd (ds) I gained ALOT more knoweldge on birth & was able to have a beautiful water birth (completely natural) with no tearing, & he was 9lb 3oz. I am 34wks with #3 & although I will not be able to have a water birth with this one, will still be doing it natural, because not only was the labour & birth easier being natural, but the recovery time was very quick & bubs was also much more alert after the birth.

E586467, I would love to have a water birth. I am due June 23 and for years before I became pregnant I have planned to do that. However, I guess now would be the time to look more into the details of it and I am not sure how to go about it. If I ask my obgyn would she know or do I have to get a midwife. I guess what I'm asking is where should I start with finding a facility in my area or the means to go about planning for a waterbirth? I'd love to hear your story. If you want to email me my email is morkalith at verizon .net Thanks.

jenniegump being able to have a water birth completely depends on where you live & whether or not your pregnancy is considered low risk. You could ask your doctor but you are more like to find info from a midwife. I live in Australia & am very lucky that the hospital where I gave birth, had a birthing centre run by midwives that where trained in water birth. If you don't have access to a facility that allows waterbirth, another option is to hire a midwife & birthing pool for a home birth. Definitely try to find out about it in your area as soon as possible, as the spaces to these places get taken up quickly & you might miss out (the ONLY reason why I don't have the option with this one is because I didn't get a spot). I wish you luck in finding info & really hope you are able to have the water birth you desire. Oh & when I get a bit more time will post the water birth story of my son.

I have been through two and I am def. getting one ALL natural. The last time I got an epi and it just messed up my back did not help at all and I ended up feeling everything anyways, so I am not even going to waste my time and just go natural like I was forced to do before lol, w/o the back pain. I find if they would let you push when you have the big contractions it does not hurt, this time I am going to push and they are going to have to go with me and no waiting on my Dr to show up to the room:O

i had my daughter naturally and she's now 2 yrs and 7 mnths old.. it hurts like hell i wont say that it doesnt..BUT it all worth it.. u can focus more on ur pushing and 3 pushes and she was out..epidurals slower the delivery process and i've got many friends who told me that everything slowed down when they got their epi.. i just had the gas while pushing but i didnt feel any major pain while pushing, very unlike the painful contractions although i had to have 2 st_tches which made moving around challenging and uncomfortable for the first few 5 days...this time i will definately go natural cz im scared of epi's to be honest :p and i would not want anything to slow down the process cz once ur in, time stops lol

Well, I have had 3 children and had each one a diff method. 1st-ceasar 2nd-natural (not by choice) 3rd-epi. By far the 3rd was my favorite. I would however like to attempt at a natural again. I think you have to be really dedicated though in your mind in order for it to remain a natural and not give in to the drugs dontcha think?

jac1019 - January 6

I would like to say that I am brave enough to venture through a natural birth; however, I am not ruling out the possibility of an epidural or other alternatives. I admire those who successfully persue the natural process, but I also think that those who share outright opposition and disgust to alternatives need to remember that this is a personal choice that depends on what is right for the woman giving birth. Some people ask me that question often and then look at me as though I will be a terrible mother because I am not ruling out the possibility of pain meds. They need to mind their own businesses.
