Oops! I almost posted on the old thread so I'll paste it here...Kendra, speaking of stuff (in your last post) reminded me that I wanted to ask you all if any of you have thought of registering yet? I started mine at Target last weekend, but I haven't gone beyond like 3 or 4 large items I knew I wanted. I am totally confused by the rest of the stuff, but now found a list that I got in the mail from Babies RUs that I can use as a checklist. I think my showers are going to be in May--my best friend is throwing one for my friends here where I live and then my mom is doing one for me back home for family and girlfriends I grew up with in my hometown. I'm excited, but also kind of confused by it all, lol

I just posted this on the othe thread, did not see there was a new one. :) Hey ladies, I have not been on in while. How is everyone feeling? Just to jog your memory, I am almost 18 weeks and due July 28th. Sefkay, congrats on finding out "It's a girl!" :). over the past few days or so I started feeling movement in my tummy. It was the most amazing feeling ever! It makes things seem so real now. I am pretty sure it was not gas! lol When did everyone else start to feel movement?

Hi Mari! I think I first started feeling it around 15-16 weeks which I know is earlier than the "norm"...it didn't get more consistent feeling until 18 weeks or so and now I feel it pretty much constantly. The bad part of that is when she calms down I start to worry. It's like it comes in spurts throughout the day. It's still not like hard jabs or anything, more like strong POPS and rolls and bumps? I find it so hard to explain it to other people :)

When I was about16 weeks, I was getting little flutters, but I thought it may have been gas or muscle movement. But now I can tell the difference between the baby moving and other feelings. Once I start to feel more consistant movement, I am sure I will worry about it all the time too. :) I just hope I do not get too many kicks in the ribs! LOL

STEF - what is confusing ? what you think you are going to need? I would recommend skipping the gadgets that will most likely be unnecessay - like wipe warmer and stuff like that - as this is my 3rd I am going very basic and since I hope to find crib changing table at a garage sale I will register for a swing and maybe a high chair - I plan to have a meet the baby shower after she arrives so .....I will have to get a infant carrier/stroller deal I guess...I wil register for clothes and stuff but mostly onesies of all sizes since babies live in those during the hot summer months..LOL - don't stress STEF just get what your instincts tell you. I already have a playpen Welcome back MARI - it is very exciting to feel the movement I felt it at about 16 weeks a little and more consistent now that I am 21 weeks - STEF - you need a new religion girl...LOL Kendra - I just know Kelseys' surgery will go great!

I was thinking about your post stefkay, and how all the "stuff" is a little confusing. I agree with cors1, a lot of the "pretty/extra's" you won't really use or need, but some things & advice I've found over the years that are helpful: 1) always have at least 3 of every linen, ie cribsheets, blankets, mattress pads, baby towels, etc. the theory is -one on the shelf, one in use, one in the wash. 2) Have lots of onesies short & longsleeve, burp pads (cloth diapers are great for this and come in cute patterns now!), socks, scratch mittens, receiving blankets. 3) If baby becomes attached to/has a favorite bear, blanket, pillow, whatever-buy duplicates if you can, keep one in your trunk for away-from-home emergencies. 4) Have a stocked diaper bag, but keep it light - just keep an "emergency kit" in your car with extra clothes, diapers, plastic bags, cleaning up supplies for baby & surfaces, some toys or books, whatever. 5) Run the vac_mn cleaner when the baby is sleeping, let the phone ring, leave the radio on, let the baby get used to sleeping with some noise. You can try & control the enviroment, but eventually a plane WILL fly overhead, the doorbell WILL ring, the dog WILL bark - you get the idea. Don't create a light sleeper, you'll pay for years to come! Well that's what I can think of off the top of my head. The great part about all the "stuff" that is available is that most of it isn't really necessary, but it sure is fun to try 'em all out! It's SO much better than when we played with our dolls when we were little girls, lol.

Wow! Thank you guys for the info! I'm like taking notes over here, lol ;) Yeah, I need everything, but am not sure on all of the "extras" I have the crib and changing table now, but everything else is going to be on the registry I suppose. Clothes I am actually not registering for because I'd like to pick that out myself, and between me, my mom and 5 friends who've had girls in the past few months to a year I will be getting TONS of clothes...more than I'll ever need (onesies and all). So i figure if I register for clothes that is what everyone will get me when I need all the other things. I think I am going to get my own crib bedding too. I just signed up for my childbirth cla__ses (they told me to hurry as they fill up fast) and they will be in April/May. There is a lot of planning, so I think I can keep myself occupied until the baby comes, I hope! ha ha...

I have the new parents' checklist from the babies'r'us website, even for a 3rd time mommy like me, it's helpful, esp b/c I'm averaging about 4 years between kids! Anyway, it's a good guideline, but of course you don't need everything, but it gets you started. I found that just going to a big store like babies'r'us and just walking every single aisle and looking at it all helped me picture what I might need, or like. And also see some things I hadn't even know was out there! Everyone is different of course, but I found the browsing very informative. How's everyone doing today? I'm 19 weeks tomorrow, my boys are home from school today (we live in southeast PA and got some snow today, they are out there kicking it all over the yard!) OMG! I just noticed that the Gosselin family is on Oprah today. I knew them when they had their babies, my son Noah is a week younger than the s_xtuplets, and he was at Hershey Medical for 5 weeks, he shared a nurse with their little boy Aidan. We stayed at the Ronald McDonald house while our son was in the hospital bc it was too far to drive from Elverson to Hershey every day, and they were staying there as well with the twins, who are my older son's age. I would watch the girls for them so they could be with the babies and sometimes she would watch my oldest, Andrew, so I could be with Noah if my husband was not available. It's so strange to see them all this time later!

Queen Bee - that is an awesome idea still going to look and see all the new stuff out there - oh yeah don't forget the BOPPY - I loved mine and it was great for just putting the baby in when they slept so it's very useful even if you don't b___stfeed. I look forward to having a cute girly one this time! I am going to get that list too to make sure I don't forget anything - I really want a vibrating chair and swing they saved my life with my last one - STEF - Queen Bee is right - don't make it quiet while the baby is sleeping - I ran the vacuum, banged pots and pans, let the phone ring, etc and both of my boys sleep like rocks - it's fantastic - I never have worried about waking them up. Which is also great for when me and my dh well ....you LMAO - they don't hear a thing - I am sure I will worry once they get oder but for now I can be as loud as I would like ...LOL sorry if that's TMI just want everyone to know the FULL advantages of training your baby to sleep through sound....LOL Queen Bee - that is so cool that you know the Gosselins...and helped each other out - Can any of you imagine having 6 babies at once? uh no thanks! I think they do a great job raising them - she is a trooper for staying home with them I think - I am sure I would want to escape to 2 full time jobs if I had 8 kids...LOL - I guess its' a good thing I am only on my 3rd! Mari - My dh just barely started feeling the baby move from the outside over the past week or two - and I am 21 weeks.

Mari I am 19 weeks and 2days.
Queen Bee that is awsome advice. I want a boy ( will be happy with what ever) but I have all the clothes i would need for a girl just off by a couple of months that is so great. I have a whole lot pink. it will be weird if I have a boy to be buying all blue and green. LOL I am a week and 3days away from finding out. I can't wait.
Cors thanks for reminding me on the boppy I wanted to get ine with my daughter and never did. I amsure it would have been alot easier b___stfeeding if I did. LOL

OMG, I loved my Boppy as well, for b___stfeeding, for bottlefeeding, for extra support, to help prop the baby when they get a little older and are trying to sit, to drape the baby on to give them some tummy time b4 they can roll over. It really is a great invention, and it comes with such cute covers now! My first one (nine years ago!) didn't have a removable cover, and it was such a pain, trying to spot clean it, etc. I'm getting a new one this time, with removable cover!

Going off to snuggle with hubby & kids and watch a movie. They are having popcorn, I'm going to have ice cream. Strawberry, if you're interested, lol. Catch everyone later! PS Just wanted to say that I love, love, love that I found this forum and such a cool group of ladies to share my pregnancy with, and just chat about whatever. It's addictive, that's for sure, all this support and camaraderie and friendship!

Queen Bee - LOL I am so excited about having a new boppy with the cover - I used to wash my whole thing about once a week as spot cleaning didn't quite do it - my first one spit up alot so it got yucky alot! My hubby needs some much deserved guy time so that means I don't have to cook and I am so excited about that- it's quesadillas for everyone...lol Well I'll be checking in throughout the night!
