Hi, I am about 16-17 weeks along with my second child. first is 13 month. I suffered from depression before and was treated with paxil. I stopped taking it with both my pregnancy. I went back after the first child was born. When I found out I was preg again I stopped again and felt good. however, I just recently returned from my 3 week trip from Europe and my life is just a mess. First I thought it's just jet leg. but I don;t think so anymore. On monday I went back on Paxil, doctor also prescribed me ambien to sleep. I don't know if it's the hormones but neither of the drug works. I am shaking, I can hardly eat, I have to force myself to have just something little. I don't enjoy this pregnacy at all, even though baby is wanted. They said paxil take up to 4 weeks to kick in. should I wait? The physical side effects are horrible and I never had them before. Could they be related to ambien? Is there anyone out there like me? Please help.

Read the label on the ambien to see if those are some side effects- It sounds like they could be. Can you just try Tylenol PM or something to help you sleep- my doctor told me it was ok to take that. Discuss the side effects of the ambien you are having with your doctor. I would wait it out on the paxil- it can take up to a month for the effects to take place, so you may just have to be patient. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

Kristina, it may be the side effects from the Paxil that is causing you to feel bad. I was put on paxil many years ago for postpartum depression after my son was born. When I decided to get off them, it took a month to slowly whean myself off. The side effects were terrible. I really don't like paxil at all. There is another anti anxiety called Wellbuterin XL, which has no side effects. As it is time released slowly to the brain. But call your doc and go see him asap. Don't suffer in silence. It sounds like you have a bad case of anxiety, possibly due to hormone levels and also being run down from traveling.

Ladies, thank you for your response and support. I am trying to stay positive. I'm kind of scared of the ambien but I also undertand the importance of rest, and being calm. I'm not depressed during the day but it gets on me during the night. But I'm trying to keep busy, and start to excercise, and just leave up to the Lord. I guess. I also found that up to 10% women suffer from Antepartum depression (during preg.) which made feel also little more on easy. Thank you again.

Benadryl is safe as a sleep aid and is commonly included in most otc sleep medicines. Wellbutrin is supposed to be safer than ssri's (Paxil) good luck and try to remind yourself that it's not you, it's the hormones and it's only temporary!
