Monday Sigh Checkin In Ladies

My doc is guessing I am about 13 weeks. The miscarriage makes it hard to tell though since I never got a/f before concieving. The ultrasound will tell us for sure how far along I am. It is just weird because my dad just asked me a bit ago how far along I was and when I told him he was shocked because he said it seemed like I was showing a lot for not being that far along. My pants do still fit. But my belly sticks out in the front. :-) people at work started figuring out that I was pregnant. I wasn't planning on saying anything til the ultrasound but they started putting two and two together. I stopped smoking, I started cutting caffiene out of my day, my b___bs look bigger they say (I don't think so but whatever), and now my belly is starting to stick out.

Oh yeah, I meant to ask. what time is it over ther. It is already 1:49 here. If you were hoping to stick it out to 2 over here you would be getting ready to leave already.

I dont get paid salary, Im by the hour. Nice eh? Dont get me wrong I still make decent money I am actually overpaid for the type of work I do, but hey those missing hours catch up to you!

Robyn - April 18

Its only 11 over here....still got a few more to go

hey robyn - i was reading the other thread about staying at home - how long maternity do you get in the states? i know nothing about it but need to talk to hubby about what we will do / if i will come back to work... i think we get something like a year up here...

Misty - April 18

Wouldn't that be nice. My work is really nice about that. I can take as long as I want and still have a job when I come back. But it isn't paid for any amount of time I don't think. I will be lucky to get 2 months. Sad huh? We just can't afford it.

rb - April 18

this is super depressing - wouldn't it be great if we were in the "olden days" and we actually "had" to stay at home... i know, it sounds bad coming out, but the principle of staying home and being able to do so would be great... now i feel wretched,,,

We get 2 months of maternity leave over here and I think it depends on where youre working on whether or not it is paid. You know what is aeful though I find myself feeling aweful and resenting those lucky ladies that get to stay home and sleep and do whatever while they're pregnant and it makes me feel guilty but d__n, I dont want to work right now! Why cant I stay home and be taken care of for a little bit? Does that make me sound like this totally aweful horrible person?

Misty - April 18

At this point in time it might be nice to be able to stay home if I wanted. But even if Mike made enough money it would be a short lived pleasure. I am just not a house wife kind of person. I need to go out and do stuff to be productive. I just picked up another shift at work and Mike got upset and told me if I wanted more money why didn't I just ask him for it. Because I know that then he will want to know how much everything cost and why I felt the need to buy it. If it is my money it is my business and it doesn't matter how much it cost or why I bought it. I just need to win the lotto. What do you think. Wouldn't it be so nice if we could just all win? Stupid cause it would never happen but wouldn't it be so neat if we all used the dates we are expected to deliver and went out and got a lotto ticket with those numbers and won. :-) Then we would all be filthy, don't know what to do with it all, rich. :-) I know I'm such a dork. :-) I always say I need to win the lotto, but I never play, that makes my chances just a bit slim.

Hey everyone~ I get 2 weeks before (used to be 4 weeks) and 6 to 8 weeks off after. I only get 60% of my pay from Short term disability, but my work will cover the other as salary coordination, so it won't be exact but should be close to the same. I guess I can't complain too much.... :) Robyn I hope your feeling better!! As for RB and Misty you'll have to keep us posted on how your US's go, mine is on Friday to check the Gender..........wish me luck for a GIRL :)

rb - April 18

penny - will wish you girly luck all week starting now! - robyn: it doesn't make you an awful person - it's one of those... for once in my life, i wish.... things - and i totally understand how you can feel that way - like misty said, winning the lottery would be great... you could spend all your time with your kids and really enjoy them...but unfortunately, that's not our reality and it sux!! i do empathize tho - and i know you'll get though it... have you considered working from home? i have been but i think i would just get side-tracked... knowing me...

I really need to ask about that short term disability thing. I am worried that I won't get any help finiancially though from my work. They are pretty awesome about some things, but they are stingy when it comes to money. They always look for ways to cut costs. I have the feeling that if I ask about short term disability they will tell me that I am not disabled and I am ent_tled to maternity leave, but that is it, and I really don't think my maternity leave is paid. It isn't a career after all. Just a waitressing job. :-(

Robyn - April 18

Maternity leave I think in most places is a joke...if you get it at all, its the short end of ths stick and youre left not only stuggling with a baby...but with your financial situation bills etc....fun.

Misty - April 18

Wow, I was just looking at the thing about how your baby is developing at different weeks. It said by 14 weeks your baby starts to urinate into the amniotic fluid and so it gets replenished every 3 hours. I didn't know amniotic fluid got replenished. It said that was why it was so important to drink lots of fluids especially at this time. I just thought I would share that 'cause I'm really not drinking lots of fluids but since reading that I will be. It also had (over there to the left of the screen) a section for stages of pregnancy. Go into that and go to second trimester. It says most people don't have morning sickness anymore but if you are one of the people that do they have these tapes they sell for I don't know what that supposedly the sounds that they play are relaxing and help with the nausea. I have no idea if it would work. But I figured a tape couldn't be too expensive and it might be nice for you to try Robyn, considering how you have been feeling. I mean, I don't think it could make you feel any worse. :-o~~~ Hehe. Sorry about that face. I couldn't resist.

Robyn, I feel so bad for you! The times I ended up throwing up I would also be so emotional that I would start crying and my husband would call in sick for me. I also get paid by the hour, and i have to say that I am extremely lucky because my boss does not care how much I work. There were weeks where I was working no more than 8 hours! My hubby is great and he did not care to have a very very tight budget, we made it through! Now I only have 4 months to go so I don't have the excuse of feeling sick, but my back kills me, sometimes I can hardly walk (for real) and I feel plain fat!

Misty, normally Short Term disability is something you elect to have that comes out of your pay (like health insurance) If you pay into it, it will cover certain things, like pregnancy, unexpected illness that lasts longer then a week (could be stress related, migranes, surgery of some sort....ect...) You should look into what the state offers, as CA has a manatory state disability that you pay into, unless you choose your employers plan, others states don't. Washington has the best Maternity plan that Ive heard about.....they get lots of time off :) There's always FLOA which is family leave, which is not paid, but still an option so that you have a job to come back to. I work in HR for my company so a lot of what I know is based on company specifics...but hopefully this helps :)
