anyone had a c-section with their first (or previous) pregnancy? if so, what was your experience like with the next pregnancy? did you deliver va___ally or have another c-section & why? i had a c-section (emergency, after a few hours of labor on my way to va___al delivery) with my first pregnancy & although im terrified to deliver va___ally, i want to give it a shot if God willing nothing stops me. im also scared to have another c-section being that it will be my second & i may want more kids after this someday & i know after 2 c-sections theres a risk & some doctors dont recommend subsequent pregnancies. please share your experiences!!! thanks

Ive had a few pregnancies, my first I had v____ally and then my second I had an emergency c section because my son was too big and I have a small pelvis, I couldent fully dialate. I went on to have my third child by elective c section and everything went well. I am now 20 weeks pregnant with #4 and will need to have a c section.I will in total have three c sections after this baby is born.Vaginal delivery is a lot better for healing and if I could have I would have had all mine v____ally over c section. I think the biggest concern doing a VBAC is the uterus tearing during labor, I heard this is rare but it can happen. I would talk to your doctor about it. My doctor never said anything about me having more kids, actually after having #3 he said if you have another one it will be by c section.I just wanted to share my experience and wish you the best with what ever decision you make.

thank you so much for responding. im almost 18 weeks now & strangely it just recently occurred to me to ask my obgyn about delivery! i have a low pain tolerance so im terrified to have another c-section because my recovery was so long & i didnt handle the pain well. im scared to have v____al because of that pain but from what ive heard the healing is much faster & the pain pretty much subsides once the baby is out (aside from the burning & soreness). that i think i can handle! i just dont know much about VBAC's & was curious to hear others stories & how their v____al deliveries after c-sections turned out

I was worried about the possibility of a v____al birth after a c-section, but as it turns out neither my doctor nor the hospital do VBACs, so it's another c-section for me. I'm fine with having another one though, it's faster during the actual birth and for me, I had no problems healing afterward. My only concern is that after I had my daughter, I bled for almost 14 weeks, the last 3 was just spotting though. But this time if it goes on longer than 8 weeks, I'm calling my doc...14 weeks is just TOO long. You may want to ask your doctor if they do VBACs or if the hospital allows them to (some hospitals don't).

oh my gosh i didnt even know that some doctors/hospitals wont do VBACs. i'm learning something new everyday! i will definitely ask although i think if she wouldnt do a VBAC she would have mentioned from the start that we'd have to do a c-section. you bled for 14 weeks????? i bled for about a week after the c-section & towards the end it turned into spotting just like a period then nothing. it was the pain of recovering that was hell for me. labor itself i could handle but once i woke up in recovery i felt like i was dying!!

I wasn't in pain after my c-section, just a little uncomfortable at first. They gave me one of those wraps to put around my waist that velcros together...to kind of keep the pressure off of my scar for a few weeks...needless to say, I wore that sucker for 6 weeks...especially at night. I can remember going in for my follow up appointment and my doc said that I was healing perfectly. The hardest thing was bleeding for 14 weeks afterward...the doc told me that if I was going through more than 1 pad an hour to call her and I never had to use more than that, so I just a__sumed it was normal. The last few weeks were spotting though, but I'm thinking that I bled so much because when I was supposed to get the depo shot, they for some reason, didn't have it, so it was like another 2 weeks...my periods are normally really heavy, so that might have something to do with it as well. At your next appointment, ask if your doctor does VBACs, that way you'll know what your doctor is planning when it comes to the delivery.

i never knew they even had a velcro thing. i was in such horrible pain i wouldnt allow anyone in my room i couldnt stand the sound of a pin dropping & i came up with every swear word in the book. i almost pa__sed out in the shower from trying to wash my hair, couldn't brush my hair or stand up straight for at least a week, & had to sleep on the couch for at least the first week because it was so hard to get up & sit down on the bed i guess because of the height. it was HELL so im praying for VBAC so i wont have to go through that again

I just had my second c-section and I have to say the recovery was much easier the second time. I was worried about VBAC due to the chance of rupturing but I went early anyway and had no choice about the c-section. I also had the velcro belt thing and it helped. I think just knowing what to expect and more importantly getting right up and moving around as much as possible really helped my recovery. Good luck!

I have a bit of a happier story than most of you it seems. I had a ceasar with my first. I was convinced it was b/c my doc had another doc visiting who was there specifically to learn how to do c-sects!!! I know this b/c he introduced me to him while in labour! Anyways, the ceasar came and went. I healed very quickly from that and don't remember any sort of traumatic pain a__sociated with that. I was up and at it by the time I came home from the hospital. 2nd pg, VBAC. No question as to my body's ability to cope with that. 3rd pg, VBAC. Again no question and not even a hint at a possible ceasar. All 3 of my labours were induced. 2 were b/c I was 10d overdue. 3rd was b/c of probs and needed to get baby out sooner rather than later. But was induced the day before due date. Now I'm pg #4 (20wk) and not even thinking about ceasars as an option. I hope you get to deliver the way you want and just remember that in regards to pain, epi's are a perfect option to keep it under control. You'll also be surprised at what you'll handle when necessary. Good Luck!
