It's a small handheld device used to hear the baby's heartbeat,. You can rent or buy one just like the one they use at your dr's office for home use from some websites like Stork Radio and Belly Beats, they are very easy to use and give you great peace of mind between dr's visit.

Oh yes, these are like medical grade equipment, therefore more expensive, but I believe you can rent them for an low monthly rate instead of buying one.

You can buy them on Ebay, sometimes people are selling there's after they are done with them, sometimes some of the companies also b__w some out on there. Also check out babybeatsdotcom, or tummyticklesdotcom or storkradiodotcom, they all sell them as well. Even just enter fetal dopplers under google and it should bring up a whole list of places. You wont be dissapointed in having one. I love mine and use it everyday!

I rented mine from bellybeats.com...just go there and see what a medical grade one is like. My OB has the same one and it worked for me between 9-10 weeks! It's been a lifesaver and I'm so glad I had that peace of mind. The ones from walmart I've heard are terrible and that even 32 weeks pregnant women can't get the heartbeat (and that it picks up everything else, but the baby's hb). I'd just pony up the 25-45 bucks a month for a few months to rent one as I figure that is what I would pay in my copay to see my dr. once and have her check the hb. Now I can do it everyday if I want :)
