When Does 2nd Trimester Begin

When does the 2nd trimester begin? I've heard the start of the week 14... and I've also heard it starts AFTER 14 weeks (beginning of week 15). I know it's such a technical question, but I was just wondering?!

I could be wrong, but I always thought that the start of the second trimester was the beginning of week 13. The first trimester is the first 12 weeks, so it only makes sense, right?

Yes, that's what I thought too. Until I read otherwise. I guess too much reading from different sources is what's confusing me. Oh well, it's not that big of a deal anyway. =) Thanks for your input, Beth!

13 weeks is when it begins.

divide 40 by three and it is 13.25. so about 13 weeks 3 days. It is said that the third trimester is 27 weeks cause it will add to 26.5 so you might as well say 27weeks

According to an acc_mulation of the books and internet sites I've read, I'm pretty sure it begins at the end of week 13/start of week 14

ive alway been told by books and doctors that the 2nd trimester starts at the end of 12wks or the begining of 13

The pregnany book i am reading states that...first trimester is 0-13 weeks...second trimester is 14-26 weeks and third trimester is 27-40 weeks.
