i would also like to know an answer to LanaK's question. I would also like to know if what I get every month just b4 AF is EWC, Its always clear and like a spiderweb of CM that stretches at the very least 3 inches. I always get it just before AF starts ( a day or so ) Is this a bad sign? Or is this not EWCM

Krissy, EWCM is typically a sign of ovulation, so you would not see it right before AF, rather in the middle of your cycle.

Lana, I know when you are "supposed to see it" but the only time my CM isn't clear and lotiony is right before my period and that is when it stretches and looks like egg whites. Any suggestions?

Yes, it's definitely possible to get pregnant without ewcm. I know Emma did. Things that will help increase it are grapefruit juice, carrots and Evening Primrose Oil. I just started using the latter this month myself, and I had some ewcm, which I don't have often naturally. You just have to make sure and stop taking the EPO at ovulation and replace it with flax seed oil or another omega fatty acid, because EPO can cause uterine contractions and is recommended against during pregnancy. Krissy - some women get ewcm right before af, too, and that's perfectly normal.

Lana & Krissy - it is definately possible to get pregnant w/out ewcm. The one month i didnt notice any during/before ovulation is the month i got pregnant. I had a__sumed that since i didnt see any, i wouldnt be ovulating but i was wrong. I had actually even made a thread here about it, asking if no ewcm means that i didnt O. So no, dont give up hope, its still possible :)

For some women EWCM is not obvious - a finger check may be necessary. Krissy has a situation she needs to check out further since she describes pretty convincing EWCM right close to AF and not mid cycle. She might temperature chart for a couple of cycles to determine if she does ovulate mid cycle, or if she has an incredibly short luteal phase. Good luck!

Thanks, Grandpa Viv. The questionable EWCM was from a finger check, but unlike the previous months where there was a lot of it, in the past 2 cycles the amount of it was very little, and it was definitely not as clear and stretchable as before.

I never did experience ewcm at any time and i have four children and one on the way.I have always been pretty dry inside and would still get pregnant,so no you dont have to have ewcm in order to get pregnant.

I was wondering the exact same thing too, i dont really get that much ewcm, i am drinking grapefruit juice and taking epo till o - i just bought preseed, i''ve heard that it can help. I''m going to use it the day i get my +opk and the day after. Its worth a shot.

LOL sorry I had to laugh about the pregnancy experience thing. Unfortunately I can't benefit from it b/c its supposed to be a surprise that we are ttc but dh's mom had 12 kids. Now there is some serious pregnancy experience. Can you imagine how lucky you'd have to be, to hit it on the nose every time to have 12 kids!!! When I first met dh I thought I was gonna keel over when he told me that his oldest brother was only 8 years younger than my grandpa. ( he is the baby)

EWCM does not have to be present in order for ovulation to occur.
