can you get pains like period pains when youre or if youre pregnant

i am four months pregnant and get the same pains. my doctor says it is nothing to worry about. that it is normal and the baby is positioning it's self that's all, nothing to be alarmed about.

Yes. I'm having all sort of period like pains (which are often quite sharp - spent last friday having a very early scan -too early to see anything which was interesting but a waste of the hospitals time! All fine and normal apparently - why on earth don't books tell you about this rather than having women worry.
