Can Anyone Help With Maternity Leave Questions

I am single and work full time. The father is in the picture and wants to get married, but I'm not in a rush as he has been cheating on me for the three years we have been together. We were broken up when I discovered I was pregnant. The father is not financially stable, and I have just finished college and have a lot of debt. I am working hard to pay it off in the next eight months, but I am so worried about maternity leave. I think I am ent_tled to paid 6 weeks after the birth. Anyone have experience they would like to share? Also, when should I tell my employers that I'm pregnant? I am only one month pregnant, my insurance starts 12/1.

you are ent_tled to 6 weeks leave where the company cannot fire you. During that time if your company doesn't have payed maternity leave you can go on unemployeement. The way to discover that is by talking to your HR department if you have one. It all depends on what kind of company you work for. The recomeded time to tell your employer of your pregnency is at 12 weeks, unless you have really bad morning sickness, or complexations then the books tell you to tell your boss sooner because that would allow them some understanding. As for your medical...if you don't have insurance right now...going on your company's plan may create some problems. I only just started a new job in July, got pregnant in September and my insurance didn't start until october and when I went to the doctors for the first time on my company's insurace. The insurance tried to deny the claim, stating my pregnancy was a pre existing condition. Fortunely I am the personal a__sistant to the owner of the company and he is really great. He had our HR person take care of everything for me. By the way, I won't go back to the father...I believe that if he cheated on you for your whole relationship or most of it...he will cheat on you when you are married and then you would have to go through the heartache of a devorce.
