Confused On Legal Rights Please Help

I live in Kansas and I'm 6 months pregnant I am not with the baby's father but he and I have both agreed for the baby to have his last name ? if I have already told the health Dept I go to that I'm not with him will I have any trouble giving my baby his last name also I have heard that if the baby his his last name I can't file for Medicaid ...... Please Help.

You are asking for legal advice, which only lawyers can give. I believe he can sign a Kansas acknowledgement of paternity, and get his name on the birth certificate. This will give him the legal rights and obligations that go with fatherhood. Tell the Health Department your story and ask the Medicaid question. Maybe if he has a good job with medical coverage, the baby could go on his policy. You would qualify for Medicaid based on your employment status.
