and hannahbaby, male cic_mcision is something the Jews do, whats your point? I don't live in the US and i'm sure female circucision isn't done in aust either but the point i was making is that you can find "research" to back up any claim these days, doesn't neccessarily make it the truth. Also i have spoken to a lot of men and women lately about this subject and wasn't very suprised that most recommended i don't get my boy done. A lot of the women preffered their partners uncut and a lot of men have had no problems what so ever being uncut themselves. In fact what did suprise me was that a few guys who were cut recommended i don't get my boy done but no men that weren't done reccomended that i do. It seems that, at least here in Aust, that the younger generation isn't being done. And yes you hear horror stories about infections and stuff but you don't hear about all the successes cos theres nothing to talk about. I plan to have an open and honest relationship with my son. If i choose not to get him done, which i don't think i will, i will sit him down when he is old enough and teach him the importance of good hygiene. And seriously it makes me laugh so hard when i read that stuff about cic_mcision preventing aids.

I also laugh about circ preventing aids?? It just doesn't make sense and saddly the three people I know that have aids, are circ so it didnt help them. I believe teaching SAFE s_x is what prevents AIDS. Most women who I talked to who have been with both kinds say they like the un circ male better. Even though I live in the US I think I wont get it done.

Danii. You are very wrong in a lot of the things that you have said. Since we cannot posts website addresses i am going to give you some very good information on a few things. First of all, In the US Jews do not circ_mcise until the age 15. They consider it a rite of pa__sage into manhood. Second, In the last decade, As early as the late 1980s, observational and ecologic studies in the developing world suggested that higher rates of male circ_mcision were a__sociated with lower rates of HIV transmission. and third and MOST IMPORTANT, is your VERY VERY inaccurate comparison of the Male and female circ_mcision. Boys are circ_mcised for cosmetic, health and the parents unsureness of the uncirc_mcised p___s. Women, on the other hand, are "circ_mcised" for VERY DIFFERNT REASONS. Women in Africa, the middle east, and South East Asia are still being "circ_mcised" (i am putting this in quotes because the proper term for this procedure is "female genital mutilation") Women are mutilated in these countries because if they aren't, they are considered undesirable for marriage. They are considered undesirable for marriage because the female genital mutilation dramatically decreases the female libido. They believe by doing the mutilation it will safe guard the woman's virginity and will make them faithful wives.....Just a little information that i thought you could benefit from reading.

Name i am not trying to prove anyone right or wrong. I asked for peolpes opinions and am sharing mine, also those i've learnt from asking around. No need for defiensivness. Hannahbaby, i know exactally why females are mutilated. Your right Its absolutely disgusting, it's a poor comparison on my behalf but i was just saying i'm sure there would be medical arguments for it as well. And i know several Jewish people and i've been told that they are circed at birth, not at 15. Their rights of pa__sage is something diferent. But i don't know. Could someone please explain the theory behind this whole aids thing?? I don't want empty stats, i want information directly relating to the two cos as far as i can tell, if a p___s comes in contact with the aids virus , its irrelevant the amount of time it spends in contact. I find it very confusing but am open to someone explaining it to me cos this would certainly make me want to get my boy cut. I just don't see how it's possible. Also can i ask why you were so turned off by an uncut p___s hannahbaby? U don't have to answer that, i'm just curious and wondering if maybe a majority of people in the US are done

from MSNBC: The study was conducted on more than 3,000 HIV-negative South African men, ages 18 to 24. Half of the men were randomly selected to be circ_mcised while the other half remained uncirc_mcised.
After following the men for a year, the researchers found that for every 10 uncirc_mcised men in the study who became infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, only an estimated three circ_mcised men contracted the virus, the newspaper reported.
The study is considered significant because scientists have yet to discover an effective vaccine against the HIV virus or develop a reliable way to prevent infection other than through abstinence or safe-s_x practices. from national geographic news:Speaking yesterday at an International AIDS Society conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, French AIDS researcher Bertran Auvert presented the study's findings, which are based on 3,273 South African men. The results show that circ_mcised men in the study were 63 percent less likely than uncirc_mcised men to be infected through s_x with HIV-positive women. That's a far better level of protection than the 30 percent reduction risk set as a target for an AIDS vaccine. The idea that male circ_mcision provides significant protection against HIV infection is not new. Auvert's report "is an interesting confirmation of a long-standing hypothesis, which if confirmed could potentially have a major impact on preventing new infections in men," said Seth Berkley, the president of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative in New York.
Several dozen previous studies in Africa have shown that circ_mcised men are two to nine times less likely to become infected by women with the virus than uncirc_mcised men are. But with its sample group of 3,000 men, Auvert's study is by far the most extensive to date.
"Male circ_mcision must be recognized as an important means to fight the spread of HIV infection and the international community must mobilize to promote it," Auvert wrote in the abstract of his presentation in Rio de Janeiro. AND TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION HERE IS WHY THEY SAY THAT BEING CIRCED CAN HELP PREVENT AIDS (also from National geographic news, same report) Medical anthropologists noticed as early as 1989 that the highest HIV infection rates in Africa were occurring in regions where the predominant cultures did not practice male circ_mcision. Since then some 35 studies have suggested a relationship between male circ_mcision and lower HIV infection rates.
Adult HIV infection rates are above 30 percent in Zimbabwe, Botswana, and eastern South Africa—areas where male circ_mcision is not generally practiced. Meanwhile, infection rates are below 5 percent in most of West Africa, where male circ_mcision is commonplace.
The reason for the increased risk of infection, experts say, is because the foreskin of the p___s is susceptible to scratches and tears during intercourse. In addition, the foreskin contains a high density of Langerhans cells, which are especially vulnerable to HIV.
Circ_mcision may also prevent other s_xually transmitted diseases, including syphilis and herpes, which are known to increase the likelihood of HIV infection.
I know that you can find anything online but that is why i went to reputable websites with facts, not speculation.

Wow hannahbaby, thank you very much for that information. that is definately something i will now discuss with babies daddy and take into consideration. i find that absolutely facinating, thank you for finding that for me. Also i find that wierd that you'd never seen an uncirc_msized p___s before. I think that it's far more common practice in the US as it is here. A lot of girls here prefer it. But i will definately be thinking more about the Aids things. thanks again, i appreciate the effort you put in to answer my question.

my best friend is jewish. you get circ_msized on the 8th day of birth...its written in the hebrew scriptures...the 15 year old thing is actually happens at 13 and its where a boy must recite the scriptures in Hebrew showing that he is a man verse in the law. As for the African report....I have read it, I am still skeptical about it. Though my cousin who is un-cut and 14 said he wishes that he was, I just dont have the extra $400. and to me its cosmetic only.

I was looking at the cost of circ_mcision that has been posted throughout this thread. I was curious. I called my OB's office, and they asked what insurance I had. I informed them... and my insurance policy cover 85% of the circ_mcision cost....

There are several studies by reputable sources that indicate the risk of cervical cancer in the female partners of uncirc_msized males is higher. Also, to equate male circ_mcision with female circ_mcision/female genital mutilation is not a fair comparison. In females they at the very least cut off the hood of skin that covers the c___toris causing hypersensitivity of the c___toris to the point of pain at times, all the way to completely cutting OFF the c___toris and v____al lips and almost completely (and crudely) sewing the v____a shut except for a very small opening for urine and menses to flow out. My boys are circ_msized and they are and always have been great. This is a personal choice however and I respect each parent's reasons for what they decide.
