Hello ladies I am a counselor at a high school and looking to run a support group for pregnant teens. I was pregnant when I was 17 years old and quickly suffered a miscarriage. Both the pregnancy and the miscarriage disrupted my life. I wish there was someone I could have gone to, or received support from when I went through it all. I felt very alone. There is a definite need for something like this at the high school I work at with a few of my girls. I am wondering if any of you can provide me some information of what goes on emotionally for you and what support you want or wish you could have had. What does it feel like as far as peer support? how was it at school? parental support? how was it telling your parents? hormonally? fears of rasing your child? decision between birth, adoption, abortion? Again. I want to address all the needs that my girls will have in the group and give them somewhere safe, honest and open where they can vent, rely on and support each other. I understand for many it not all of you, this is still a challenging situation, so please do not feel obligated to post. however, i, as well as the teens in my group, would appreciate any feedback as to how I can really provide a great service to these girls in need. Like I said. I went through this myself. but its been a few years, and it is always so much more helpful to get an outside opinion of what others go through, besides myself. Thank you in advance.
