Girlfriends period was expected in 2 weeks.
We had unprotected s_x on Sunday Evening.
I did not ejaculate inside of her, but by Wednesday, the fear that prec_m would be an issue got us scared and we got Next choice. She took the pills Late wednesday evening. So she took it approximately 80 hrs after s_x. The box recommends that it must be taken within 72 hours. I went on a couple different websites, and it says that it is still effective up to 5 days. But less effective every day after the third.
It is now Wednesday of the following week. Her period is normally expected in 1 more week.
The side affects, (cramping, lower back aches, and slight headaches) are all gone now.
What are the chances that Next Choice was too late? Should I expect her period to come later or earlier than normal? Any early signs of pregnancy I should look for? If her period does come, are we completely safe?

Sounds like she took the EC exactly 2 weeks before her expected period, theoretical ovulation day. The EC probably did not stop her ovulating, but would have made the uterus unreceptive. The excess hormones will give her an unpredictable menstruation. The best plan is to do a home urine test first pee the morning her period is due, and repeat a week later. My guesstimate is that the chance of pregnancy is in the single digits. Buy yourself some good condoms and use for every penetration. If she is in her fertile window cycle days 8-16 of 28, use condoms and v____al spermicide together, or plain old abstinence. GL!
