Hi. I am 17 and currently pushing 13 weeks of pregnancy. My Boyfriend and I are kind of "Ify" about an epidural. Because of the chance it could paralyze me. I am about 5'8, 120 lbs. Would i Have to get the shot? Thanks much!!

You don't have to get the shot if you don't want to. The only thing that the epidural does is it numbs you from the waist down so that you don't feel the pain when you are giving birth to the baby. But if you want to feel the pain of the baby being born then you don't want to get the epidural.

like mikesgirl said you don't have to get it if you don't want it. most women get it because they can't tollerate pain. if you can that's great, then the baby will be healthy. and even if you have the shot the baby will be healthy. most women get it after birth progresses because the pain in more intense than they expected. i had a friend who went into labor with her first baby and she didn't get the shot and the baby was born in 30 mins. sometimes it takes longer than others. remember babies got their own planner and they come when they want to. i had another friend who made the first push freaked out cuz she couldn't take the pain and got the shot. but do what ever your heart decides doctors will do what ever you want. no worries love advice girl
