There ARE Teen Parent Success Stories

I haven't posted here in awhile because everything has been so busy in our lives the past few months. I'll sum up my story real quick. I became a teen mom at age 18, it was the scariest moment of my life. The father and I stuck together and worked our very hardest to get through the sterotypes and people judging us. He stayed in college, I worked hard to make our house a home. We had our daughter when I turned 20. We kept on going and working hard. Today he is a college graduate and has an AMAZING job, not an easy job to get what so ever. We worked together over the past 5 years to get where we are, we've had so many ups and downs but we made it!!! I called my caseworker to update them on the change in our lives with my husbands new job and he said in the 20yrs of him working there, my husband and I are the second most successful cases he has seen. He was happy for us and said there aren't many success stories like ours. So I just want to give you girls hope that there ARE teen parent success stories out there and if you work VERY hard, you can be one. Four years ago I would have never imagined I'd be where I am today but with the love from my husband and our amazing kids, we accomplished our goals, we stayed strong! What a rollercoaster it has been but I have no regrets! Now it's my turn to get my college education. Be the best moms, wives, girlfriends, you can be ladies. Be great roll models for your kids. Best of luck to all you girls out there.

I got pregnant with my son at age 17, had him at 18. Got pregnant with my daughter at age 19 and had her at age 20. We had a caseworker because we were on our states gov. health insurance for awhile because we didn't have health insurance when my son was born. I called them to let them know my husband will provide health coverage for us now through his new job. Sorry for the confusion, I tried to sum everything up simply but there is so much more to it! Thanks for the congrats.

Good for you! I'm seventeen and my daughter is two weeks old. I suppose you can call it a success story since I'm incredibly happy (but EXHAUSTED!) and working my b___t off to maintain my B average in school. It's nice to know somebody made it though okay :) I really want to be a stay at home mom but it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon. In the mean time I'm just nagging her daddy to somehow become a billionaire :P

I was pregnant at 15, my parents thought that I was going to be stuck on my own no money, no education. But me and my bf stayed in school and we worked. When the baby came we loved her dearly and have been bringing her up a lovely happy little girl. We both went into further education, work hard and have good jobs and pay our way. It's not fair that people just see a teen mother and think 'waster'. We are let down by many that are childish and think it's all a game. I think I remember your name actually from way back. Glad you're getting on so well. Good luck!

Careful girls. While it is good that you guys have been successes and I'm proud of you, remember the key thing is that you or both you and your boyfriends worked hard to get where you are now. A lot of young girls coming on here at 14 and 15 are not going to be as mature as the 17 and 18 year olds, and chances are that they have some guy (sometimes older guy) who is staring over them saying I want you to have my baby just to get in their pants because saying that will make them believe they mean serious business and love them so much that they want to settle down and be a family man. That is not always the case. I'm proud of you girls because it is hard, but you all know you are so much more mature and prepared than you would have been at 14 and 15 and while this gives encouragement to the girls who are already pregnant and scared that they will just be another statistic, there are also girls who are coming on here with the question of whether they should try for a baby. These great stories will just make them think it's a reason for them to go get pregnant now. But they won't realize they aren't the same as you girls.
