At first my period was just spotting and now it's outrageously heavy. Is that normal? I'm using a super absorbent tampon and a panty liner for leaks and it goes through BOTH! I have never been anywhere near this heavy before! Why did I have to get my period so early :'(

Hey Amanda - I really dont know much about this at all as I still have first bun in the oven....but if you keep bleeding really heavy I would call doc and just ask? To be on safe side - unless you get a bunch more posts saying its normal of course :)

Yeah I don't know if it has anything to do with like... me having s_x last night. My period is usually like a dark red color but now it's a cherry red. I was so embarra__sed, I went swimming with my fiance, his cousin and his friend... When I got out of the pool I was dripping blood and his friend was like "Um. You're dripping red stuff" I could have DIED of embarra__sment, there was a pool of red at my feet and I had only been standing there a minute.

You poor thing. My first postpartum periods were hideous too. I bled so heavy I thought I was dying. I am fine though, every thing checked out healthy so.. Try not to worry unless you get dizzy or pa__s out. Just stay off your feet as much as you can and eat plenty of iron rich foods.

Hey it's normal to have really heavy post-partum periods. With my dd it wasn't too bad, but I was on the mini pill & I think it controlled it a bit. With ds I never took the mini pill after having him & got my first period when he was 7.5mths (B/feeding kept it away), & it was soooooooo heavy I wore heavy tampons & a pad at the same time & thought I must be dying it was so heavy. They should get back to normal after a couple of months (no guarantee if your b/feeding) just make sure you are taking plenty of iron so you don't become anaemic.

Well thank god it's normal. I still have some of those huge pads from the hospital, I could use those but I'm not looking forward to it. It looks like I shoved a pillow down my pants haha. Goodbye tight jeans then, even though I finally fit into you, the pillow will not allow our love to go on :'(

Jay T, if a heavy period is making you nervous, wait until you can no longer resist the urge to read horror stories. Haha. My entire pregnancy I was like okay don't go looking for any horror stories, don't even ask people how their labor went. You don't want to know, so just don't ask! But the third trimester rolled around and I couldn't help myself. I read every painfully excruciating labor story I could find and was practically shaking in my maternity pants thinking of the millions of things that could go wrong. Ah, memories :)

Thank God you don't have to wear Depend diapers or something. That'd be awful. "I can't go a day without my Depends".

Haha oh god... I would die if I had to wear those haha. I bought some super plus tampons or whatever they're called and used it this morning when a regular pad. It seems to be holding pretty well, I just never expected it to be so heavy haha. For some reason I was thinking it might be light at first then go back to normal. I certainly didn't p__s these cramps. Ugh I can barely move they're so bad. Harold is sick so he can't come over to help me out. I'm taking Motrin but it only dims the pain instead of getting rid of it. On top of that I only got two hours of sleep last night and it wasn't even in one block, and on top of THAT Ellie is still fussy from her shots. I'm rocking her to sleep right now (she seems to like falling asleep to the sound of the keyboard clicking haha) I hope she stays asleep enough for me to get myself together. I feel like collapsing in a second.

We all wish we could p__s the cramps away. Wouldn't that be a dream? That was the coolest typo. I swear I wish I had made it.

Have you tried extra strength Midol? I think it comes in a red box. I had some of that because nothing was helping the cramps at all! It worked pretty well, perhaps you could send someone to pick you up some. I swear some of the other meds did c___p. I think unfortunately although the medicine helps the pain it can make your bleeding heavier, so be prepared. Maybe get some diapers on hand (j/k of course).

Is Midol okay to take while b___stfeeding?

Ah fudge I forgot you were b___st feeding. That's one you'd have to take up with a doctor, because I have no idea, sorry bout that :( I'm sure it isn't too different from Motrin, save for a little stronger, but then what do I know?

Oh shoot I didn't mean to suggest the diapers, maybe I'm bringing up the wrong brand! I just mean the pads that are thicker and longer like the ones the hospital give you. LOL!!! As for your tight pants, Amanda, you should be able to reunite with them within the next 2 or 3 periods.

I hope so. I love my jeans... I love them so very much. Should I be expecting my period to be irregular too? I've never really had an irregular period before... It doesn't seem like it would be a very pleasant surprise.
