You could also have PUPPS I think it is

PUPPS is more of a skin problem I don't think it has anything to do with the liver. I really don't know, hopefully they'll tell you something more when you get your scan.

Honey, i'm sorry I can't think of the name of it, but there is something that is in that category of like gestational diabetes and preeclampsia-you know things that are pregnancy induced and go away with delivery. If I remember correctly it IS just like these other two because they aren't completely sure what causes it, but it's a toxic buildup in your body that causes the rash and itchiness, and for some women with some pregnancies, sometimes their liver function goes down. They are probably checking your liver to see if it is just a rash (which some women get and it is just a skin thing with pregnancy) or if it is the tell-tale sign of something more serious. If your liver function is down then they will take action which I think they might try meds for a while, but usually babies in these situations get delivered a little early to be on the safe side. Now I'm giving you some overall information and I'm sorry but I don't remember the finer points or the name of it for you to look it up. So sorry for that, but hopefully you'll take comfort in kind of knowing more about what they are doing and why....or at least I hope!

Some women experience a very severe itching in late pregnancy. The most common cause of this is cholestasis, a common liver disease that only happens in pregnancy. Cholestasis of pregnancy is a condition in which the normal flow of bile in the gallbladder is affected by the high amounts of pregnancy hormones. Cholestasis is more common in the last trimester of pregnancy when hormones are at their peak, but it usually goes away within a few days after delivery. According to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cholestasis occurs in about 1 out of 1,000 pregnancies but is more common in Swedish and Chilean ethnic groups. Cholestasis is sometimes referred to as extrahepatic cholestasis which occurs outside the liver, intrahepatic cholestasis which occurs inside the liver, or obstetric cholestasis.
What causes Cholestasis of pregnancy?
Pregnancy hormones affect gallbladder function, resulting in slowing or stopping the flow of bile. The gallbladder holds bile that is produced in the liver, which is necessary in the breakdown of fats in digestion. When the bile flow is stopped or slowed down, this causes a build up of bile acids in the liver which can spill into the bloodstream.
