Just A Quick Vent

So I went to my OB today, and it is official. I am definately going in for surgery...I am really upset because i asked for my surgery to be schedueld for somtime in October, and September first I get my $2.00 an hour pay raise and then $3.00 and hour for vacation pay...So my estimated time off work will be a month. Which means I will get screwed out of 1 month of vacation pay. It is only like 500. dol that I will loose for that whole month, but then I loose a full month salary...So I am like "Okay Im doing what needs to be done and I have 3 insurence so this will work out great...my husband, kids and I are double covered on our primary insurence which means we pretty much only pay $6.00 for each perscription and even that can be reimbursed if we go through the trouble of doing it (trust me the trouble isnt worth it) then we have aflac insurence which we have for benifits such as if you get injured or need to have surgery, or even just are forced out of work for any relavent reason, they cover 60%-80% of your lost income....So im like this isnt bad I can t complain I have it made really, alot of people would be screwed. I cant be greedy....well i called aflac and apearently they never linked my benifits to my normal insurence, i really didnt realise I had to do that. It is there fault because they didnt inform me that I had to and my fault because I didnt look into it. so they are saying I probably wont be covered for my beifits pay, because my referal has ALREADY been sent over by my dr.....Now common normally you know it takes time to send over a referal...unfortunatly my OB is really good and took care of it right away, so now I may not have ANY income for that month. Financially we will be okay i am sure, but we will be looseing ALOT of money that month between my normal income, vacation pay, and now my aflac benifits.....So i am really peeved off!! Plus I really dont want to go in for surgery of course, so it adds to my frustrations.....anyways that was it just wanted to vent for a few minutes.

I'm sorry that really sucks. Sounds like aflac is really screwing you there. I think a lot of insurance companies do that kind of c___p b/c they know that the common person doesn't know exactly what they are suppose to do. It's really unethical but at the same time what can you do? If you tried to sue or something i'm sure they would say "well it says on page 18, line 72 that the customer is responsable for filling out paper work that can only be obtained every 3rd monday of the month from 7am to 8am, and has to be submitted no later than blah blah blah...." YOu get my point. SO you have probably mentioned it before but what are you going into surgery for? You don't have to answer that if it is too personal.

lol you pretty much nailed it, but they said they will see what they can do for me, so we will see.......I have endometriosis, so they have to go in and remove all that they can and see exactly what it is effecting, and see if there is anything else besides the endometriosis....they will remove all the problem causeing stuff that they can, and if it is too much they will just do a hysterectomy (sp) she said the likelyhood of that is VERY slim though because she said if it was that bad I would be begging her to take out my uterus....and well obviously I am not...lol...in fact the first thing I asked her was how this would effect me having kids in the future.....This is somthing I have been avoiding for somtime now but it seems like the only opyion left is surgery to remove whatever they can

Ryan broke his hand last Dec. and was out of work for 7 weeks. Aflac had some excuse why they couldnt pay him his benefits. After hes had it for 4 years and never used it. Thay said "they'd see what they could do." We even got "the check will be in the mail this week." Well its been over 8 months and nothing.

durante baby - August 26

Geez if they said the check is in the mail....then I would fight for it like a MOFO!! that would p__s me off!!! Well We will see how this works. I signed up for it because our hall gets it for us REALLY cheap so too me it sounded good and wouldnt hurt but now i will detemine that for a fact

amanda17 - August 26

I only understood about half of that but YEAH! Screw those people and those...things they do... :)

newbaby2009 - August 26

Well then the aflac people came to his work and did a presentation trying to get people to join or up their benefits. Ryan told them he got screwed and they're supposely still working on it. He still pays them every week. Its been 8 freakin months. I think they're hoping he'll just say forget it.

DB, I'm sorry to hear about your endometriosis, i've known a few people who have had that and i know they really suffer. I've never had aflac but i have not heard anything too good about them. I guess i was lucky i had short and long term disability as a befefit at my job and i was able to take advantage of it when i had my dd.

newbaby2009 - August 26

Ryan has aflac on top of short and long term disability. Its supposed to be worth it.

durante baby - August 27

Newbaby_ I would keep on fighting it...I wouldnt let them get away with it...Do your research and read all the fine print and see if you can threaten to take then to court!

Krissy_ Everyone that I work with who has it swears it is great.....so far, not so much for me though....A friend of mine busted his knee cap playing on a trampolene (sp) with his kids and they covered his 6 months out of work because he had to go in for surgery...Another friend of mine actually broke his femer (sp) bone having s_x when he fell off his kitchen counter....haha true story there! And he has been out of work for over nine months now, and I know in the beginning aflac was covering him...I dont know about now though. The endo sucks but it could be worse...which is what we are trying to prevent. I will have the surgery done and after that my dr wants to put me on depo lupron...but that really makes me nervous. The way she described it is it puts you through temporary menopause, and to me that just doesnt seem right. not to mention too we were considering ttc next june and I dont want it to interfere with that.

AddysMummy - August 27

Bah, I'm sorry, Aflac screwed over my mom too. She had to get surgery done on her neck and they said they couldn't cover her because of some bs reason, so she has to wait because she can't go without the income. They are great sometimes but man, they also suck ma__sively!!!

Krissy25 - August 27

That's cool that you might start trying in June. I told my dh maybe we culd start trying in August after our dd turns 2, we'll see. I know i want at least 2 kids but i'm scared of how hard it might be, but i want them to be close enough to be able to paly well together. Ha ha, l i think my biggest problem is that i want everything to be perfect, I need to learn to let go a little.

durante baby - August 28

krissy that is funny that you said that you guys are thinking about trying August, because dh and I were talking about it last night and we realized that if we try in june then we will end up with another march baby, so now we are saying maybe august too.

durante baby - August 28

haha addy you are funny. I just logged on so I havnt noticed a problem with the new layout yet....but i do like how it shows the date and time that the original poster posted....I always have to look at the first comment on the thread to get a general idea on when it was posted.
