Sperm lasts a max of 5 days inside you. Ovulation occurs around day 14 of a 28 day cycle. but in some women as early as day 10. The egg is only good for a day, If you know you have ovulated (there are signs) more than 48 hours ago, s_x is not likely to get you pregnant until the next cycle begins.

viv, please remember and acknowledge the fact that some women can, in fact, ovulate during their period so it is rare, but possible. your info is a bit narrow.
