Hey girls this is so weird... I'm not on my period. It ended about 4 days ago, but today I started getting really severe period cramps? At least that's what they feel like. I've had them all morning, I've only been awake for 3 hours. They are to the point where I can barely move... Wthhh is going on?

eat some bananas, and put a heating pad on your belly. I have had random cramps at times when i didn't have my period several times and trust me i absolutly hate bananas but they actually helped! and the heating pad helps ALOT too... feel better!

Thanks I'll try that. I took a nap earlier and that seemed to help. But why am I getting these cramps when I'm not on my period?

it just happens sometimes when you grow up. it happened to me a couple months ago and it really sucked because it scared me and i was like wth is going on with my body?! i hardly get cramps on my period let alone when i didn't have one. bananas became my best friend at those times, they go away no worries though!

Amanda, I'd still get that checked out, or mention it to your doctor at your next visit. Though our bodies go through weird things, sometimes those aches and pains turn out to be something more serious like cancers of the reproductive organs, a serious kidney infection that had no other symptoms (I've had this and the only symptoms I had were sudden fever, cramps, then lower back pain and finally major headache and faintness), cysts on ovaries, etc.

The month before a few days after my period I had cramping in what seemed to be my left ovary. It almost felt like ovulation cramps but a bit more painful... but the same type of pain, you know? Unfortunately I have no insurance right now. I had to cancel the appointment I finally had with my doctor for a check up and to get Mirena. I went down to his office to make the appointment and when I got home my mom was asking me how I planned to pay for it and I was like what do you mean it's like a 5 dollar co-pay and she said that I didn't have any insurance when I turned 18. I applied for government aid three weeks ago (just for insurance, I was able to convince her I didn't need any farther a__sistance) but I haven't heard anything back.

yeah well is there still pain? if you are still in pain then you should get it checked out and depending how bad it is... ha and totally off subject, i realized how irresponsible i was and everything because i went to the doctor today because i have been having pain on my right ovary but only during s_x lately (protected now! :)) anyways she said it could be just inflamed and or i could be ovulating/did ovulate and be pregnant, it makes me realize how real everything is, soooo thanks for telling me how stupid i am!! :) i promise to get birth control at planned parent hood next month... hope ya feelin better!

I suppose that's true, they did stop after I took that nap... But some kind of odd discomfort seems to be happening every month after my period ends. I mean could it be those godd__n postpartum hormones balancing out? They should be wearing off soon though, it's been 10 and a half months. Do they get worse right before they get better or is this going to be a normal thing if it is the hormones? I've also been pretty PMSy beforehand. Last time I started crying because I wasn't able to watch all of the movie The Departed... so when the end came I was just like "wtf why is everyone dead??" and I got really frustrated, started crying and blamed it on Harold haha. I hope this isn't going to be the norm for me...
Baby Maybe, good job on your epiphany and being protected.

I very rarely had any problems with my period or symptoms of it until I had a baby. My periods were always regular, I always had the same symptoms to the same degree, I always had very minor ovulation cramps that were barely noticeable. I think it's quite likely that postpartum hormones have something to do with it. Since they usually only last up to a year, and my daughter will be a year old in two months, they should be dying down... but instead I feel they are getting worse. I know they've messed up my period for good. Now my period starts and stops in the middle of a cycle, my PMS symptoms are more severe... it seems likely that the post menstrual symptoms are related as well.

yeah well growing up can do that to ya...it sucks but it can happen. i wouldn't know about all the postpartum things because i haven't had a baby before (obviously i ask you about things daily ha) however i know alot about growing up and that your body changes ALOT i never got cramps and my b___bs never hurt until like past 5 months or so randomly and things. if it gets to the point where you are throbbing go to a free clinic or hospital...i hope this helps!

Hm I don't know of a free clinic around here. I know a lot about growing up too... I mean... physically I'm about as grown up as I'm going to get. Next step for me is like... menopause. I've had my period since I was 9 so I've been introduced to all sorts of hormones since then. They became regular very quickly and have stayed regular for about 7 years. So the only thing I did different was have a baby....

Amanda, yes, this post-baby stuff does seem to affect you for a long time. It wasn't until B was 18 months that I finally stopped getting random suprises, but even now, my period and pms is nothing like pre-baby. Hell, I'd have one good cry about 12 hours before I started, but other than that, I didn't do anything. It seems to be getting worse. THe past 2 or 3 months, a few days before expected period, I'm having a random cry, then getting moodier and moodier, then ready to give up or b__w up the world the day before. THen the day of, I just become Euphoric, then extremely tired. It's like WTH!?!

Yeah V, it drives me crazy. I'm still getting all kinds of weird cramps and now weird discharge. I'm getting the egg-white discharge that typically happens around ovulation... only I'm getting it all the time and grossly heavy. I dunno I just hope that my hormones don't stop here and say "alright you're gonna be stuck like this forever" I wanna go back to how it was :(

You couldn't possibly be pregnant could you, Miss Amanda?

Technically there's a possibility but I doubt it. I've been getting my periods regularly, keeping track of my ovulation, using condoms and making sure they aren't torn afterwards. I got my period on the 8th of April..the closest time to ovulation that I've had s_x was like late on the 15th. All other periods have been just as regular differing only by three or four days at most. God how awesome would it be if I was though :P

Well I always see that situation as so 50/50. As you know I'm in the same baby-craving boat as you and it'd be cool to do it again, but then there's the difficulty and reality of not only one but TWO! And it not being at the right time...so...
P.S. Oh yeah, I was joking about the pregnancy question.

Yeah I know... but logic doesn't seem to mean anything to my hormones.
