Hey guys, just as the t_tle said I am 30w3days and had my OB apptment today. She said last time I saw her I was 26w measuring 23 and now 30w measuring 26 and she didn't seem to concern, just because it's growing, but she is still sending me for another u/s. But of course, I am worried. We know the exact conception date because we conceived with Clomid combined to an IUI. I am a small person to start with, 5"4 (163cm) and 105 pounds (50kg) before getting pregnant. I have gained 28 pounds since the beginning of pregnancy. Has this happened to others? I would really like to hear about it, cause I know I won't sleep until the ultra sounds, in 8 days.

As long as your measurements are increasing, things are probably fine. What becomes a problem is when there isn't any growth from visit to visit. My baby hit a growth spurt right around 28 weeks and measured 32 weeks. Then the next time I went in (at 30 weeks) she still measured 32 weeks. Then two weeks later she measured 33 weeks. It's all an estimation and there is lots of room for human error in the measurements. It's okay to measure a little behind.

Oh and remember that "normal" measurements are always a range-- there is no right number to be.

Thanks Sarah. I know if it was bad news, she would have referred me right away to the hospital, but still, I'm worried. Maybe it's just that the baby is in the transverse position or something. But yesterday, I had to go to the dentist as well, and all at the sudden, the comment : wow, you don't look 7 months pregnant! was not something I wanted to hear...

CgGirl, I agree with Sarah that you are probably ok and if it was and issue the doctor would send you to the hospital or something. Some women are so blessed to carry the baby right in the middle to the point they barely look pregnant until they hit 7 or 8 months. I see that all the time. Your definitely will go back to your size again shortly after having the baby if not in the hospital. The ultrasound will definitely make you feel much better once you see all is ok and its more your small build and not the baby. Baby is probably plumping up and that is where everything is going. Let us know about your u/s. GL

Thank you ladies, it really helps. I was able to change the u/s appointment for this Friday, so I feel a little better. I did some research (although I try not to read too much because there is always like horror stories that you don't want to know about) and it could be that there is low amniotic fluid or that the baby is in transverse position so the uterus is growing from left to right instead. I will definitely let you know of what's happening. I know both of you (Sarah and Mahagen) are due soon (I'm eaves dropping on other forums!) and I hope that everything goes well for you guys!!!

The same thing happened with me with my first. When I was 36 wks I measured 32, so I had an u/s. Everything was fine, he was just small--6lbs.3oz. at birth. the dr. told me the same thing everyone else has said--as long as the measurements are increasing, then he's growing and probably fine. If you're small, it's not unlikely your baby is small too.

Hi guys, I just wanted to take the time to thank you for re-a__suring me; the u/s went perfectly, and the baby is fine. She is right in the 50th percentile, except for the legs, that are 2-3 weeks ahead. She weighs between 3 and 3 1/2 pounds, right where she is supposed to be! Thanks again guys, and best of luck for D-day!
